Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
Hello everyone. Well...where do I start. First off, i used to play 2142 on my comp and it worked PERFECTLY, no problems at all. Man I miss those days...Anyways i stopped playing for awhile and I went to play again. The problem I have no however, is that when I try and play mulitplayer the map loads the "join game" button appears, and I click it. Now a couple things start to happen. A) the game freezes as soon as I click the button and then crashes back to the server select screen with a message that simply says "Punkbuster". B) I click Join Now and I get in the game and for about 1.4 seconds it looks like Its finally working when then all of a sudden it either crashes to the server select screen with the "punkbuster" message, or my screen goes black with the monitor button flashing and I have to turn the computer off, or it will just restart my comp completely. Also, while the game is loading, some lines will sometimes come across the screen, almost as if it is glitching of something I dont know. Now ill tell you what Ive tried. I have updated punkbuster numerous times. The game is patched and up to date. I have reinstalled many times, each time updating the game and punkbuster. I have tried suggestions from others for problems with the game such as clearing the temp folder, getting rid of start up process, etc. I have used programs to make my computer faster and get rid of spyware, viruses, etc, using TuneUP, hijackthis, spybot, norton, and such. I have updated my drivers as well. My computer has plenty of space on it, goes above the requirements for hardware needed to play the game, so it is difficult for me to find out what the hell is happening. Maybe I'm missing something right under my nose, and thats why im asking for help. If this has happened to anyone and you have found a solution, PLEASE tell me.
I would GREATLY APPRECIATE any help people can give me! thank you!

Re: Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
PBsetup should work. If it doesn't, then adding the files manually would be the next step.
To do that, open this link and then (whilst in your browser) select file, save as and browse to your PB folder (for me it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\pb but will vary on the OS) save this strange text document as pbsec.htm
Try the game again and let us know

Thank you very much for the help. Unfortunatly, both the suggestions you gave me didnt work. I tried pbsetup and saving the page and adding it to the pb folder in 2142. Any more ideas?

Re: Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
You may need to fully remove it and re-install it in the order identified in this post:
http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...ion-guide.html
It also talks about a specific order to reinstall the software and patches. If you follow the instructions in this post, you will get a working copy of 2142.
After you get 2142 reinstalled, you need to run pbsetup located here:
http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
You can also check if the PB service is running properly with this tool:

Re: Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
Try delete "my documents/2142/profiles" (or something like that) folder before you do anything else......this sounds very similar to a problem I had before and that fixed it for me. You will need to set up all your preferences in-game again after this.
The game will re-write all your soldiers, fixing your problem!

Re: Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
Thank you for all of that! I just followed the intstructions for reinstall and I did that then installed it. Now is the correct patch to download? and after that ill update with pbsetup. And then should I delete the profile folder or see if it works before I do that?

Re: Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
The profile folder delete I was talking about can be done anytime, just to freshen up your details. It may fix your problem.
I would've tried that before any uninstall/reinstall as it is much quicker to do than uninstall/reinstall.
Current patch is 1.5 (new patch in the works though)

Re: Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
Okay, so I patched and update pb and I tried the game and it actually worked for about a min until the game froze and my comp restarted...I think that the game is affecting my computer so that it messes up pb and then i get kicked or it just shuts my computer down. I think PB is all set but this freezing somehow affects it. Like I said before I sometimes see this like grid glitching lines flashing across the screen(not the whole screen just some parts). I dont know what could be causing the game to shut the computer down and freeze. If anyone knows that would be great. please continue to help!!!

Okay, my specs are:
Windows xp
eMachines
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
Radeon X800 Series
160 GB hard drive
512 MB ram
If you need to know anything else, just lemme know. I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this! >:0

Re: Somebody please help me!!!! >:0
I remember someone saying before that the grid lines were caused by anti-aliasing. Try turning that off. Did you delete the profiles folder from C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME HERE\My Documents\Battlefield 2142\Profiles???
Also the RAM just barely meets the requirements for the game.....most people play with 2 or 4 times that amount!
