Low Microphone Volume
Recently people have been telling me they can barely hear me in game, and I don't know if this happens in Teamspeak as well, but it's becoming annoying. After all, nothing pricks my nerves more than telling my squad there is a beacon west behind a wall just to have them not hear me and, five minutes later, the squad leader finally sees the landing pods flying down and announces it.
So is there any well and proven way to increase my transmission volume? It's maxxed out in-game and I frequently saw my green microphone icon turn yellow before in-game, so I don't know if that means I was being too loud or too low.
Also, just so I don't have to make another topic on a topic I'm not sure anyone can help with, I also get frequent, horrible 1000+ ping lag spikes whenever my mother, on her other computer, browses the web and goes anywhere with a picture of any size, for the duration of the time the picture downloads. Our speed went down during downloads from 300 kb/s to an average of 32 - 53 kb/s. Would this be anything on our end, or am I going to have to slap my ISP? We are on a router with a DSL modem, by the way.

Re: Low Microphone Volume
What OS are you using?
If you're on XP, double click the sound icon in the system tray. When the volume control window pops up, click 'Options' -> 'Properties' and choose 'Recording.' Make sure mic is enabled and click OK. When the recording control mixer opens, if the Microphone has an 'Advanced' button, click it and look for something called "microphone boost" and enable it. hit done or ok, whichever and close the mixer. see if that helps

Re: Low Microphone Volume
I'm using Vista. I'll try to put that up and check. Would increasing the decibels from 20 to 30 help at all? Or turn the "Microphone Volume" up to 100? I tried the latter, it seemed to slaughter the quality.

Re: Low Microphone Volume
Yeah, I had the same problem too.
I think Vista lowers the volume automatically.
Control Panel -> Sounds -> Recording -> (double click your default microphone) -> Levels.
A good level is 40. For me, Vista (or something) sometimes set it to 5Without teamwork, you'll never survive.
