frame rate issues

And big ones.

My computer lags really bad while playing BF2142, it almost seemed to get worse over time, which is why I reformated. Well, it's back to being bad, and I have no idea what's wrong.

I play at the lowest graphical setting available, and if I lower my resolution it stays the same. The frame rate isn't half bad until someone starts shooting at me, then the game goes to heaven in a box. (I also have this wierd thing where the gun I'm carrying glitches back and forth like I am sprinting... but I am only trying to get from point A to point B in a walk... sigh.)

I play few games on my computer, so I don't have too many other comparisons. However, I do play CIV4 and the game inexplicibly goes from 30-40 frames to 10 over the course of a game of any map size. Half life 2 also drops framerate in half when someone shoots at me.

Is there a logical explanation for all of this, or does my computer have a vendeta against me?

Re: frame rate issues

Hmm, let me see...

Broadband: 1.5kps download (unsure on upload)
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D 2.80GHz
GPU: 8600 geforce nvidia (this was not part of the original computer)
RAM: 1.00 GB

bit of a tech noob, but I think this is all correct.

I should probably add that I played BF2142 for many months without it being this bad.

EDIT: I just ran through a Tunis match where my FPS never went higher than the 11-14 FPS range... that probably explains the graphical glitches. After all, at that Frame rate, all kinds of crazy crap happens...

Re: frame rate issues

I had the same thing while moving the guy started having seizures, and pfs got really bad. I had to reinstall the game and patches after trying a # of other things that did not work, make sure the inside of your rig is clean so it not too hot in there. GL
