    Northern Strike Unlock Problem

    I just got Northern strike and after going thorugh much pain I was able to get it to work. The maps are great but now when I try to use my last two unlocks on northern strike items it wont work and has a little snowflake symbol next to it! I have been saving my last 2 unlocks specifically for northern strike and now they dont work! Please help!

    NS-Unlocks are only able to get by earning NS-awards. Every NS-award is a NS-unlock.

    When you rank up you get an unlock. But you can only choose basic unlocks for this. As said before for the NS-unlocks you have to play NS and earn NS-awards there.

    This hasn't been the case for me - I've ranked up and chosen a NS unlock, multiple times. Works the other way around for me also: a NS award unlock works fine for a basic unlock.

    The NS unlocks were grayed out for me until I finally selected the proper account on the EA website (my 2142 login name), which took a while to figure out.

    Well my idea might have something to do with the fact that I had been fully ranked up before I bought NS

    NS has really cool stuff, but it took me 3-4 hours to get it up and running! Had to uninstall/reinstall 2142 twice. I'm still ranking up pretty regularly, although as the points required get higher, it takes more time. I'm a Lt. Col. Gold right now.

    To the OP: When you click on the NS unlock, is there a 'Choose Unlock' button? I know you said that you've played on NS maps, which means it must already be activated. That would have been my first guess.
    What order did you install in? I have a quote I want to paste, but the forums says I can't post links until I have 15 posts : |

    What I did to get it working - Manual uninstall of 2142, Install 2142, Patch with 1.4, install NS, patch with 1.4 again, then 1.4 to 1.5 incremental.

    Since I can't post links, google 'northern strike dont work gamespy' and the first result that comes up is the thread I found. The post is down a little ways, it's the first one by SuperNatt.

    That is not exactly the problem, the NS unlocks are greyed out and I can't click on them!

    Then your only option is to pick up dead players' kits and hope you get the NS unlocks you want to play with.

    Seriously - I have never heard of a "fix" for this other than to uninstall and reinstall to get the game working right.
    Have you tried manually uninstalling the game, then reinstalling? This might not be the issue, but you don't know till you try. To manually uninstall you delete your 2142 folder (I renamed mine), delete all the registry keys, and the profile (make a backup). If you google it you should find instructions.

    Another thing to try - go to profile.ea.com/myinfo.do and login. Make sure that your main account is selected - the one that you use to login to 2142, not the specific soldier name. This was my problem with NS - I had a soldier selected as the primary, not my actual account.

    Other than that I'm running out of ideas.

    I couldnt unlock NS unlocks they were just grey. Then I read somewhere that you had to uninstall and reinstall. And I did that and got those unlocks to work. Did this couple of weeks ago. Didnt need to remove reg keys and othet stuff just uninstalled by bf2142 cd and reinstalled. But remember the order to install 1.4 -> NS -> 1.4 -> 1.5.

    This sorted out my unlocks too. One day they just went grey and I couldn't use them on game.

    If AIs ever rise to sentience on teh intertubes it's going to start with 2142 - it has a mind of its own already.
