Getting to be time for a new machine
My computer is 6 years old and beginning to show signs of impending failure. Can you technical gurus out there offer me some advice. I'd like to replace my machine in a few weeks or so and was wondering what I should get. What are some of the minimums to look for? Remember - I'm a lowly servant for a nonprofit and poorer than dirt.
Thanks everyone.|TG| Wineo

Re: Getting to be time for a new machine
I would post this in the Hardware forum. Those guys can give some great advice on computers. That's where I practically built mine. Just set a budget and they can give you a hand.

Thanks Beat - I didn't even realize there was a hardware forum. I almost never post - this is the second time I have placed a question in the wrong place.
See you in the game, I'll lag my way in something this weekend.|TG| Wineo

Re: Getting to be time for a new machine
Best Advice, pick up a mid-range pre-build on sale from a local store (OfficeMax, Best Buy, etc) then pick up a halfway decent video card off of New-Egg. Grand Total about $500 to $700 you can get a nice enough rig for most games that should give you two or three solid years of playtime.
Example: HP p6120: $580 (I've seen it on sale for $100 to $150 off...)
Plus
ATI 4870: $150
