Microphone issue
So I'm really out of other places to turn, I've spent 3 hours now scouring the internet and trying every single possibility i can find, nothing will work:
COMPUTER: vista ultimate x64 bit
USB keyboard, USB mouse
nvidia GTS 250
MICROPHONE: logitech quickcam pro for notebooks (USB)
logitech gaming headset (line in)
PROBLEM: In every windows application the volume level is normal, when I go to bf2142 it's very soft. on both microphones
ATTEMPTED SOLUTIONS:
*Game related:
-turning on mic boost (doesnt stay checked, thats not a problem though)
-switching between hardware and software sound acceleration
-opening the bf2142voicesetup.exe file (when opened, nothing is detected, if I change the volume slider anywhere and click save, it says settings saved. I open it again, it's back to where it was before)
*OS related:
-Found and reinstalled the logitech software
-In recording devices, making sure the recording volume is all the way up, and for my line-in microphone, making sure that the boost is turned up
-plugging USB microphone directly into mobo rather then usb hub
-enabling and disabling random disabled devices in the recording settings menu
OTHER: I noticed with my USB mic, I plug it in, and it sounds perfect for about 4 seconds in the bf2142 test, until i turn the audio test off then on again, then it's really really really quiet.
I would love ideas or solutions other people have found, THANKS! I really dont know where else to lookLast edited by peace35; 10-22-2009 at 07:40 AM.

Re: Microphone issue
Don't use the bf2142 sound test. Every time I turn it on, I need to restart 2142 or else people can't hear me.OTHER: I noticed with my USB mic, I plug it in, and it sounds perfect for about 4 seconds in the bf2142 test, until i turn the audio test off then on again, then it's really really really quiet.
1) Microphone on mute?
Some microphones come with a 'mute' switch. Click it off.
2) Correct device?
Control Panel (Classic View) -> Sounds -> Recording
Talk. The green bar next to your selected device should go up.
If it doesn't go up all the way, select a new device.Without teamwork, you'll never survive.

Re: Microphone issue
No the green bar move and as I said in my first post, for any windows software it works perfectly. The problem isn't *either* mic, its bf2142

Re: Microphone issue
When you turn the test off then on again, check your levels in windows and see if they have changed.OTHER: I noticed with my USB mic, I plug it in, and it sounds perfect for about 4 seconds in the bf2142 test, until i turn the audio test off then on again, then it's really really really quiet.
What works for me is muting the microphone in "playback" and turning the volume to 100 in "recording" un-muted.
But my mic is on the headset and plugs directly into the front IO panel, I do not use USB anything for my sound/mic, so I am not sure what the problem might be, I know some people have problems with USB Mic/headset, it could be a conflict between the onboard sound/soundcard and the USB controller or software.
