Windows Volume Setting
Hi all,
Have a weird issue with my mic settings. I am not sure when it started occurring (maybe nobody informed me until recently and just put up with my low volumes?), but the windows settings are not sticking when I go to sound panel -> adjust settings for recording. When I manually set this to recording, my mic just magically boosts itself in-game. I have tested this by alt-tabbing, setting it, coming back in game and my squadmates confirmed I am louder.
How can I get this setting to stay after restarting my PC, as I always forget before launching the game? I am pretty sure it used to do that.
Specs: running XP 32 bit, soundblaster x-fi soundcard, all in game settings maxed out for volume.

Re: Windows Volume Setting
I am not sure why this happens, but it happens to me sometimes running vista home premium 64bit, there really should be some sort of "set as default" setting or something.

Re: Windows Volume Setting
Yeah, it drives me mad, like it won't even set when the thing is closed, and re-opened. I actually leave the sound control panel open while playing to make sure its set right. It seems like windows fault in this case, a problem that will hopefully be solved when I reformat soon anyway.
Might actually be one case with this game where we don't have to blame EA.
I need to do some more troubleshooting, just thought I'd throw it out there first to see if anyone had a quick and easy fix :S

Re: Windows Volume Setting
You could try and turn your mic playback volume to max and then mute it?
I just fired up my old pc with XP 32bit home and the playback vloume is muted and at 100%, and my recording is set at 100% un-muted with boost turned off (turn it on in game) I have never had mic issues with my headset with these settings, using 32 bit XP home.Last edited by MrMojay; 11-01-2009 at 02:55 AM.

Re: Windows Volume Setting
I have to remember to re-up my volume each time I put my USB mic back in. Other than that, it's been staying. I used to have your problem. At odd times it would seem to lower itself. I have no idea what fixed it. Do you take yours out often or just leave it in? I'd also like to know if there's a way I can make it default 100% record volume...

Re: Windows Volume Setting
You know what's weird is these problems seem to have gone away now. Mic is set to 100% on mute, I just have to unmute if I want to record my own voice in FRAPS. My headset stays connected all the time however so the hardware side does not change. I think this may have had to do with my X-Fi control panel and the "syncrhonize with control panel" setting.
