new computer hopefully
So, i was thinking of buying a new computer since my laptop im using for gaming is getting to the point where its not going to be able to run these new games that are coming out. not to mention i went through 3 hard drives so i don't have to use my wife's laptop for gaming lol. but hopefully i can buy a brand new system soon so i can use it for gaming, and college. the computer im using i bought about 2 years ago right after my 2007 deployment to bahrain and saudi arabia. (never keep a laptop on a ship because it will get very damaged, but it sucks cause u cant have a desktop stored in a small locker) the computer is going to be an alienware desktop. and here is the specs for it.
CHASSIS COLOR - Cosmic Black ALX - 875 Watt Power Supply
PROCESSOR - Intel® Core™ i7 920 (2.66GHz, 8MB Cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM - Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
VIDEO CARD - Single 1.8GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 295
MEMORY - 6GB Triple Channel 1600MHz DDR3
HARD DRIVE - 1.5TB RAID 0 (2x 750GB SATA-II, 7,200 RPM, 16MB Cache HDDs)
OPTICAL DRIVE - Single Drive: Blu-ray Disc (BD) Combo (Reads BD and Writes to DVD/CD)
GAMING ESSENTIALS - Killer Xeno™ Pro
MONITOR - 21.5" Dell ST2210 Full High Definition Monitor
KEYBOARD - Alienware TactX™ Keyboard
MOUSE - Alienware TactX™ Mouse
if u like to, you can tell me if i should get something other than that. but i like geforce cards more than ati because for some reason ati usually gives me a problem. :/

Re: new computer hopefully
Just a note it's better to just build your own then pay more for a alienware, etc... you'll get more out of your money this way.
With that said I honestly would keep the money for a bit until Nvidia unleashes Fermi it's 300 series shortly which has DX 11 capability. As fo the Kill Xeno Pro... do you really need one? You're spending a lot of money on a possible ping improvement... a improvement that may only be ~5-15ms. I just think it could be better used else where, maybe a better monitor or for a TRUE or megahalem to cool the CPU? I mean hell... why put all of the money into it when you can't even see 1920 x 1200 through your monitor. I'm not sure what res your 21.5" has... but I'm sure you'll want to see all of the eye candy as possible so you may want a larger monitor.
Also to add I would look at either a Corsair HX850 -1000 PSU. Some of the best power supplies you can buy and they are both modular
Edit: I just noticed that the 295's ram is 1.8Gb... much of that will be wasted on low resolutions.

Re: new computer hopefully
I would post this up in the Hardware & Software Discussion forum. There are some great guys up there that can give you advice on the parts on on whether to build or buy pre-built.
