Are my specs good enough for new games?

I have a 1 year old Sony vaio CS laptop. its run 2142(only game i play) great and still is as good as new. I would like to know if my hardware can handle new games such as bad company 2.

my specs: Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 Processor (2.0GHz)

3GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive

Genuine Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

14.1″ widescreen LCD display with XBRITE-ECO™ technology.

so will it run new games? and if not, what will I have to do to make run new games(if anything)

Your processor covers the minimum requirements for most games, depending on what kind of gpu you have it may bottleneck it a bit. Your ram is fine, but you really need to post up your graphics card. It's more than likely a 7900 GO or 8600m GT... which honestly should be fine for Bad Company 2. I've heard rumors that the requirements would be very high... but I doubt it. Developers usually try to find a happy medium between graphics when making multiplayer games so the game looks good but many people can play it, therefore many can buy it.

To add, you can't do anything to your laptop... you would be better off actually buying a new computer. You may be able to add more ram, or hard drive space, but your motherboard, gpu, cpu are all made to work together under a certain heat, voltage. Modifying anything could literally fry something.

where do I find the graphics card?

also on my "windows experience index" the lowest score is the gaming graphics, a 3.8.

Go to your control panel and locate the device manager. Click on the device manager and look through the list for display adapter. Click on that and it should show you your graphics card.

Gaming graphics 3.8... I may have overestimated your graphics card. I have a 8600M GT in my laptop and I get a 5.8.

Yeah wow I very overestimated your gpu. Unfortunately, you have a "integrated graphics card". Basically what this means is that your card is integrated in the motherboard itself. With knowing this you'll probably have a very, very difficult time running Bad Company 2 to the point that you may not be able to at all. Sorry

All you could do is go from 3Gb to 4Gb and this won't have any effect on your fps. Ram gives you smooth fps, not more unfortunately.

No. You may be able to pull 4 fps but good luck playing a first person shooter with that. Sorry =(... and since this is ported it may just be cost effective just to get a x360 or ps3 to play it... because there won't be much difference between them.

Actually, the PC version is looking to be a bit different, than the console version. Most notably, PC will have more players. Up to 32 on a server instead of only 24 with the consoles. DICE has made it very clear that it is not just going to be a port.

I stand corrected on that point. We'll see what the differences are when everything is going though. Honestly I would rather have it on PC for many obvious reasons... but I know for some that may be difficult.
