I mean Martha signed a contract with EA agreeing that he would have to endure lag due to his superior Boogieness, but for us of less Boogie it is just not fair.

This lag reminds me of my old pc and my 512kbs connection, I now have to take a moment to get over the horrendous flashbacks!

EDIT: Restarting the game did help!

Hmm dial up video-gaming? That should put you at a reasonable ping of about 2000. ;p
Was anyone in that round where the ping was around 400? It was on Berlin or that other city-snow map. Early today. It was impossible to play until half-way though the round.

So......whats up with this problem? No fix, no nothing? Am I looking in the wrong spot, whats up?
2142 game pauses or freezes every appx 2 seconds, the game freezes for 1/4 to 1/2 second. This usually starts for me after the second game loads up. Appx 3 weeks and counting. I contacted EA with no response. Searched High and low, nothing. Anyone else had any luck? Help Much Appreciated. Thanks. S. Simmons

No, at the moment there isn't any fix to it except for restarting you game, which is a pain. Ea has not released an official statement except to say they are aware. I myself have just stopped playing the game altogether unfortunately...

Latest update yesterday from DICE's Baza:

Hey guys. Just so you know, this isn't being caused by EA Master Servers and no servers have been taken down that handle BF2142 accounts.
I have contacted GameSpy and EA to investigate their systems to see if they are aware of unusual load. The last time we had a mass lag like this there was a routing issue at one of the big US telecom companies which delayed traffic reporting stats through to GameSpy.
I'll try to get information out as soon as I hear anything.

So not master servers.. I doubt a routing problem like this would have lasted so long, but never know..

Played for the first time last night on a WEST COAST Server most were from California on the server my ping from the east coast was about 80
Server name : Team RamRod West Coast... and for the first time in Months I played 2 rounds of Gibralter with absolutely no lag. So maybe it's an East/West connection problem with EA.

I played on Monkey Gamers (U.K) server last night with a ping of 12, and still got the Lag!

Yeah, unfortunately it has still not been resolved nor has EA said anything helpful. All i can do right now is play one game on TG before i can't aim or walk properly... I hope it isn't like this when i get my new rig

I've done the same Superfast. Playing one or two rounds, then suddenly having all of my fun completely ruined by the lag was causing me more frustration than it's worth.

So, I've been playing Vanilla BF2 with my 55th mates, and I even went so far as to pick up COD Modern Warfare 2 for something a little different.

Whenever the lag is fixed or magically stops or whatever, I'll be back to 2142 with a smile on my face.

man this sucks... i get my new Radeon 4650 card for christmas start playing battlefield 2142 again and then theres this epic fail lag out of now where...D:

and i get 50+fps on medium high settings with that card!

And yes my ping is low... like 40 or lower

I beg to differ.

When you first join the server, and are tryign to stock your kit - there is this lag that occurs every 1.5 seconds that briefly freezes your screen for 1/2 second - its frustrating as you stock your kit because it makes you drop the weapons you were drag/drop into position - this is NORMAL and goes away after you freeze about 4~5 times. This is normal and I believe it has something to do with punkbuster or some other handshaking that occurs when you first log on and establish your connection with the server.

The lag that occurs in-game that forces everyone to quit and restart is identical

I think it loses some information ( either server or client ) and is then doomed to hiccup every 1.5 seconds as it tries ( in vain ) to re-establish the protocol

The last time this happened to me I had a ' There is a problem with your connection ' message, which went away after about 6 seconds ... and about 3 seconds after it did, the lag hiccups began - and the same thing happened to another member of my squad at the same time.

The big question I have is .. what the heck 'changed' recently to make this happen ?!?
