    Failed to install - please try from the beginning

    Hey,

    Every time I try to install BF2142, I get this error about half way through.
    It's a digital download, so no scratched disc etc..
    I've re-downloaded it twice, and redowloaded the EA download manager too.
    I've tried with firewall off.

    I have BF2 installed and it runs fine, but 2142 just refuses to install.
    I've never had it on this PC, so there's no issue of a dodgy uninstall in the past.

    Can anyone help me?

    well I would suggest removing any references it may have put in the registry from the failed install, which might stop you installing again.

    warning, editing the registry blah blah

    Open regedit (From the Run.. option in the start menu)

    1. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
    2. Click the plus sign next to Software.
    3. Click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts.
    4. Click the plus sign next to EA Games.
    5. Remove Battlefield 2142 folder if there

    Also remove any Battlefield2142 folders from program files which might be in EA Games or Electronic arts folders. If you have trouble removing them, this is the problem, and it's a windows thing. Can help there if that's the case later..

    I spent time doing some of this duing an install process once, with another issue whilst talking with EA support, and failed installs/uninstalled game doesn't remove some files.

    Try installing again. So long as your admin, and not trying to install to another location other than C:\.. you should be good.

    If it happens again, I would download the installer from EA downloader again. Could be corrupt download. I forget how to do that, as I use disc version mainly and EA version on another PC. Hope your internet speed is fast!

    My guess would also be a bad install first time, because its mainly a faulty disc error.
