Discussion: Battlefield 2142 / Battlefield 2142 - Technical Support & FAQs - Game won't initialize... - I reinstalled BF2142 using ea download manager, but can't get it to initialize the program.
I reinstalled BF2142 using ea download manager, but can't get it to initialize the program. I double-click on the icon and it asks for security (i click yes, even though I have it set to run as admin....) then... nothing. No black screen or error message.
I have windows 7 32-bit. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok... Now I have a new problem... Reinstalled the game again through EA download crap-tastic manager, and now when I go to start the game (through the download manager or otherwise) it doesnt recognize that I have ea download manager installed, and won't let me start it.
Wtf? I AM STARTING YOU THROUGH THE DOWNLOAD MANAGER LOL!!!11!!!1

I had the same thing happen on Windows 7 64 bit, urrg! From what I know EADM is used to validate the downloaded game in order for it to run, so running the program or hitting "play" in EADM really should start it! I tried EA's new chat support and after it disconnected me once and gave me someone who clearly didn't speak English the second time, I gave up and used my disk again.
So, if you still have your disk, reinstall 2142 with it and use EADM to get the 1.50 patch (it's a little fster ,and yes, it actually works).
If you feel like contacting EA about it, and you do get it to work, please post the solution here.
yeah, I emailed their support people, but am not expecting much. I downloaded the game because I left my cd at home, and it will be a week before I get it back again. But whatever, I'll just wait. Can't really play on the TG server atm anyways...

Have you tried setting the EADM to run as an administrator? If you are running 2142 as an administrator and starting it through EADM, then EADM will need Administrator rights in order to start it.
I dont remember if this is an issue with 2142 but I know it's one with bf2, make sure your Monitor's refresh rate is at 60. If its lower then the game will crash at the start.
Its back to saying EADM isnt installed... Refresh rate is at 60, EADM is being run as admin...

Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
