Alt-tabbing
Anyone having troubles alt-tabbing in and out of the game? Sometimes I'll just end up w/ a black box in the corner of my screen the size of the game (1024x768 on my 1600x1200 desktop) or sometimes it'll just kinda sit there and stare at me. Either way, I can't get back in to the game after alt-tabbing out. Makes it rather hard / frustrating to do admin stuffs, huh?
Seems like I'm even having troubles getting back in when I'm just at the menus... BF2 works like a charm.
Have tried with and without TSO running. Local server, remote server. Latest NVIDIA drivers. It doesn't lock up the computer or anything, just the game. In fact, I'm typing right now w/ the 1024x768 window in the corner of my screen. Heh.Battlefield Admin(BF2 Rules) (BF2142 Rules)

Re: Alt-tabbing
It apparently is a known issue, and not sure of the cause of, or solution to it.

Re: Alt-tabbing
Once I've played a game, I can't alt-tab. I can get to the desktop fine but going back to the game gives me a black screen. I got a 7900GT. I'm not sure if it occurs with ATI cards.
Hopefully, it'll get fixed.

Re: Alt-tabbing
When at the menus I can alt-tab fine (useful for adding buddies), but if you're in-game, you're not getting back in...

Re: Alt-tabbing
I don't play Battlefield 2142 yet but when I play a game, say Counter Strike: Source. I can alt tab out, but not back in, and when I get back in it takes a while for me to start to see anything (usually about 30 secs). Maybe if you wait the blank screen will clear up? Otherwise you could try it windowed but that usually a pain.

Re: Alt-tabbing
I don't know why you're all comparing graphics cards, they wouldn't affect your ability to alt-tab out of the game.

Re: Alt-tabbing
This solution for Nvidia cards was posted on another forum. I have an ATI with this problem, so I don't know if it works or not. I don't know if I even have that setting. Maybe it can help.
"Remember that wonderful setting "Max frames to render ahead" in your nvidia control panel settings? Try setting it to 0 and see if it helps. (If 0 doesn't, try 1. Default when new drivers are installed is 3). I haven't crashed since changing this."

Re: Alt-tabbing
Should have mentioned this before. This a known issue and the demo read me specifically addressed it to the extent that it said alt-tab was not fully supported. Apparently it still isn't. You can try the fix I described above, but it seems like it might be a waste of time trying different drivers. This is a widespread problem.
