Questions about Auto-Kick
Hi there,
I'm fairly new to BF2142 and recently spent some time on the Tactical Gamer server. I had a great time there and love the focus on team play. That said, I totally recognize that I do indeed still stink at this game, though I get better daily, with new unlocks helping as they come. To my credit I do follow orders to the best of my ability to try to contribute to my squad and team. Anywho, a couple days ago I got kicked and got a message that said I was being kicked for a paying member and that I could try back another time. I figured, "Cool, thats what being a paying member is for" and moved on to other servers to continue playing. Yesterday I tried to log back in for some more fun, and now I get auto-kicked on loggin with a message that I was kicked for excessive teamkilling or..grr..sorry cant remember second half of the auto-message. If I suck to much to add to the fun of your server thats ok. I am certainly not mad or anything. I only come here to see if perhaps its something that will clear up after a server reboot or something, or am I really permenantly banned? Thanks again for the great time I already had on your server, and I hope I can spend some time there again. |

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
First of all, welcome to TG Talon. We're always happy to see like-minded players come to the server.
Our server is considered 'full' at 48/50, so if you, or any other non-paying member tries to join at that time, you will get that standard message. The two open slots are there to allow for the reserved slot system to work. Don't take it personally. Just try to join again when the server is at 47 or fewer.

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
Welcome Talon.
I am especially excited to have someone around who posts in the right forum, names his thread concisely and phrases his question with correct spelling and grammar. I wish everyone took the same care with posting as you do ![]() |

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
Yes I agree. I squaded with Talon-D and thought he played very TG like.
Stick around Talon and you may find the SM fee is worth the price of admission on the servers ![]() You can also wear the TG prefix tag if you desire (without or without SM status), once you feel you have read all the SOPs, announcements, and feel comfortable playing according to the TG primer. No l33t skills needed here, just maturity. See you on the battlefield.

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
Ok, I need help because I am beginning to get frustrated due to being kicked. I am not sure whether the problem I am experiencing is due to a bug in the game, or due to the auto-kick feature or both. I have been a supporting member since BF2, and with BF2, I never had any problems; however, now I keep getting kicked from the server with the message stating "[TG] Kanonfoder you are being kicked for not joining a team within 90 seconds" ( or something along those lines).
The problem usually happens when a new map is loaded. The first thing I do on a new map is choose my kit, and customize it. I then check/join a squad. Usually, I am still part of the same squad as what I was before. I figure that all is good, and I proceed to play the game. I can see my fellow squad members in green, and I usually request orders from the SL. I usually never get a reply from the SL, and after 90 seconds, I get the message and I am kicked. I figure that due to the fact that the SL never responds, I am not really part of a squad. I figure the game is bugged in the fact that I show up as part of a squad, but I really am not part of one. In fact, one time, when I checked the squad screen, it showed that I was part of a squad that actually had 7 out of 6 members in it. I have tried to leave the squad, but it will not let me. The odd thing is that Tactical Gamer is the only server on which I experience these problems. I am not sure what is going on here. I have added my BF2142 PID to my profile on the website, and I have not installed any mods whatsoever. I also have the latest update of BF2142 installed. If anyone could provide any insight, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Kanonfoder.

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
He might have confused the term "supporting member" in meaning: he wears the |TG| tag and "supports" the community by playing and wearing the tag?

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
No, let me clarify, I was a supporting member. I chose the annual option rather than the monthly fee. I just checked my records, and it looked like that membership expired on 11/15/2006. Therefore, I do need to re-up my membership.
However, that being said, I do not believe that that is the problem still. According to what was stated, the person who gets kicked is the non-supporting member who has been in the game the longest. I suppose that that is still possible if everyone else in the game is a supporting member. The issue I am having always occurs right after a map change. It is almost as if my client and the server are out of sync. Apparently the server does not think I am part of a squad, because it is kicking me exactly at 90 seconds every time; however, I show that I am part of a squad on my pc. Also, the one time it actually showed that I was a member of a 7 person squad. When this happened, I have tried to leave the squad, but it won't let me (because the server thinks I am not in a squad), and I cannot join a squad (because my computer thinks I am already in one). I have just recently (within the last two weeks) reformated, and reinstalled my entire computer. I also do not have any mods installed, and I have the latest BF2142 patch. Finally, this only occurs on Tactical Gamer. Like I said, I will be re-upping my membership, but I do not think that that will resolve the problem. I will be happy if it does, but I am doubtful. Thanks, Kanonfoder

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
I know you think are you in a squad, but I bet you're not.
After every round, all squads are disbanded and you must re-join one on the TG server. If it's a new round, and you think you are still in a squad from the last round, you're wrong. Double check the squad screen and make SURE you are in a squad.

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
There is a bug in 2142, well there are many but only one that I will comment on here(version 1.05). Sometimes it will show you as being in a squad when you are actually not. This happens when the server initiates the sideswitch. Best indication you can get when this bug occurs is that you will stay in the squad from the last round and that you are unable to leave your squad. This is a bug that was introduced with 1.05. The only thing you can do is to disconnect and then reconnect again. Unfortunately, if you are a non-supporting member, that leaves you unsafe of joining on the slots between 48 and 49 which will get you kicked when clicking join.

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
Yea its a bug and a pretty fustrating one at that. It wont let you "leave" the squad you are supposedly "in", and if you try to join a new squad it tells you to leave the one you are "in".
You also get lots of messages of folks leaving your squad throughout the round, even though you are not in a squad as far as the game is concerned at least as far as the auto-kick scripts for not being in a squad, as the fella mentioned above. |

Re: Questions about Auto-Kick
Cool, thanks for the info. I took care of that little supporting member issue. I will just have to do the work around for the squad issue until they get it fixed.
Thanks again for the help. Kanonfoder
