Modified Content error, and VOIP
When I try to join the TG servers, or other ones for that matter, I get a message saying essentially "This server does not accept modified versions. Please revert to the standard version of Battlefield 2142."
The problem is, I don't have a modified version, except for getting rid of the intro movies. I downloaded it from EA Link, changed the movies to .bak, patched it and went.
Second problem/question is, is VOIP vital for playing on TG servers? If I turn it on, I crash to desktop if someone uses it in game. How can I fix that?

Re: Modified Content error, and VOIP
First problem... when pinging servers, click on the advanced tab, and see if 'Same version' is ticked off. If not, you will be pinging servers that are older versions.
Make sure you have the 1.06 patch.
And last but not least, reinstall brand new if nothng works out.
Second problem - You might have an incompatible sound/video card (yes i know vid card sounds rediculous) but i had the same problems... had to buy new motherboard... vid card worked in old one, not in new one.
Check your sounds and video drivers.. make sure they are up to date. I advise going to your manufacturer's website and just downloading the newest ones they have.
Or you can **** START > All Programs > Electronic Arts > battlefield 2142 > Easyinfo
see if you have anything that doesn't meet the requirements.
also check out the EA support pages.
I took the liberty of search for all crash problems. Just go though BEFORE e-mailing them and see if anything will fix your problem.

Re: Modified Content error, and VOIP
I am sure it is a patch issue. Get 1.06.

After wiping Battlefield and EA Link from my machine totally, I re-downloaded Battlefield (Took three tries.. will never use EA Downloader again), installed it, installed the patch, and was finally able to play on the TG servers. Played for about 2-3 hours, then got the error, again. Meh.

Don't rename your intro movie extensions. Just rename the folder that contains them.
