    Voip

    Hey guys,

Just need a quick awnser. I been searching for 3 days now on EA and TG. I spent a hour on hold with techsupport to only get diconnected.

I can hear all VOIP on BF2142. I can't send anything or no one can hear me. My front jack passes the test in windows. the Rear jack fails. The front and rear do nothing on the ingame test. Also to note, Is it normal to always hear your mic on you own speakers after it's unmuted? do it have to be that way?
My teamspeak also works fine to btw.

If anyone knows a good walkthrough or a VOIP guroo, please let me know!

    Many thanks!

Wrong forum, but double check your sound drivers. Check your sound setting in windows. Just as a start.

Hmmm my guess is you have to fool around in your sound card settings. That is what I have to do for mine. You probably already know this but I'll say it again incasse you don't

Go to control panel, and then sounds and audio devices.

Under the audio tab you might have a drop down box under "sound recording" try selecting a diffent device in there if you have one.

That is what I had to do for mine to get it to work...but I am using a usb headset so it might be different.

Also when you unmute your mic in the master volume controls you are only unmuting the playback of what your mic records...not allowing it to records. So in order words you can mute that, and your mic will still record it just will not play back though your speakers.

Anyways I would think the problem lies around that audio tab, or maybe the voice one. Because that is what worked for me...and of course all problems I have everyone else has :P

Err sorry about wrong forum, Please move my thread by all means. I'm a noob...

Thanks for the info about the mute. Other then that there is only one device in the audio tab for me to select.

Heres another point. In the less then effective manuel that came with the game. The V key says Commander and B says Squad. In the control options of BF2142 the V key says "push to talk" and B says "com channel". Whats teh right way to talk to a squad? One more thing. When I hit V, my speaker icon on the squad list turns yellow, which is good.. When I push B I notice nothing happens.

nothing visual will happen when you use the com channel. I don't know why, you got one in BF2. You will get the speaker icon for using squad chat though.

So V is what you use to talk to a squad by default. I would remap it to something a bit easier though. I actually use B to talk to my squad, which was the BF2 default and seemingly better.

And "b" only works if you are squad leader. This communicates with the commander.

i haven't tried talking with the squad screen up.

There only thing visual that happens is if you're squad speaking, you should see a green speaker, and if your the SL commander speaking, you should see ayellow icon with a sar appear on the screen

Thanks all. I got my VOIP working. The TV card was conflicting somehow... I pulled it out and everything works
