Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
Okay, my second test. Getting better with the sound, but not quite there. I still need to reduce the receive more and the effect a bit more.
Right Click, Save As: http://www.higginstribe.com/tg/test_fraps2.wmv 9MB It's just 2 minutes of C.Pfiel, Cymba, xTybaltx, and me whoring the Berlin snow wall. First time I've been on the happy side of the wall during a blow out. I blame the encoder for your sound sync problems. Try something else. I have no idea why your comms is flaky, though.

Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
Recordings look bright and clear to me. I don't know why they seem better for me then you guys. If anything Silvers last recording seems too bright.
I upped the brightness on my last recording some, but the brightness option just seems to wash everything out rather than actually make things clearer.

Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
Another boring clip. I think this is the last test and I've managed to get the audio down.
http://www.higginstribe.com/tg/test_fraps3.wmv 3.9MB right click/save as I recorded a couple games, but of course the best one I didn't record.

Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
The sound levels are pretty much there now and in sinc with the visuals !
The picture is not too bright or dark, just right. I think you're about ready to go. Footage is what you need now. You just need a squad leader who talks a lot and has some drama in his voice tone when leading. Exp626 comes to mind. In editing I suggest keeping it simple and saving yourself time, just lift a few 4 min segments of the best footage, simple fade in/out to/from black. A simple title at the beginning. Then upload to youtube, I think its something like 8 mins max or 100mb max. PS in fraps 3 video you have unwittingly supplied us with video evidence that you did not spawn on your squad leader, slapped wrists ! ![]() EDIT An afterthought, if you look at the videos on youtube right now for 2142 there is an enormous amount of junk, your videos just need to be better than that to stand out in a positive way. So dont go seeking the perfect game or amazing editing or anything. If fraps worked for me I would just upload to youtube everything I judged was 'good VOIP teamplay', I would probably upload to youtube one video a week of the best bits for the previous week. Also create a series of films with consistent title eg "BF2142 VOIP teamwork 1, 2 etc" Go for it !

Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
I've solved the sound out of sinc with the visuals problem, I had an old version of fraps, I updated to the latest and its all good.
This project looks like its back on for me

Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
I recorded a few short clips while playing 2142, and I'm having some trouble recording the audio as well. Thanks for posting all the tips. I'll make good use of them in the future. BTW: Squad up with Orca whenever you see him on our server. He's a very very fun SL to play with.

Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
Top-tip
If you have your windows desktop resolution the same as your in-game resolution then alt-tab crashes are reduced by 90% Top-tip If you alt-tab from main menu, then unmute mic, then alt-tab and join server, then BF2142 will mute the mic again. you need to be in-game and then alt-tab to un-mute the mic. Top-tip When you have un-muted the mic you will be able to hear your own voice slightly if wearing headphones

Re: FRAPS and recording your own VOIP
I added him to my in game buddy list. After a few nights of playing on his home server, I asked him to play on the TG 2142 server. I usually message him to try and coax him to play on TG whenever I see him on the weekends.

you were spawning on the green dot..good job....cookie for you...but not for me as your squad leader by the way, I'm getting constant alt-tab crashes, whats your best advice to reduce them. windows at same res worked at first but then it messed up. I'm getting superstitious about alt-tabbing
