Re: Thoughts on MX518?

I have the G5 but wish I had the 518 for the extra thumb button. Love the G5

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

Hmm I use a 3 button mouse. I do fine ). I like the idea of the increased sensitivity though for certain actions.

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

I have the 518 and recently mapped my Defib and main weapon to the thumb buttons. I'm already noticing more success with quick revives. What a huge difference it is over scrolling through the weapons (and missing the one I want sometimes.)
It's gotta be pretty funny to see someone in a close-range firefight whip out a medpack and threaten to bash people's heads with it.

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

now.. I am a hard core FPSer.. i owned almost every mouse from the org boomslang (old school trackball) to the MS Intellimouse. But it really comes down to what you feel most comferable with. You can also overclock the USB the copperhead does this for you already if you install the drivers but the tracking on the copperhead blew on there own mantis mouse pad oO (its what i use). Laser has a hard time tracking on some surfaces. I have the G5 and its a nice mouse and tracks well on alot of surfaces.
but if you want hard numbers the MX518 tracks better then the g5 check this site out .......esreality.com/?a=post&id=1265679.....just add the www because i am not at 15 post yet ^^;;;

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

It did, once you got the hang of it. Bit of a learning curve with all the twisting, pressing, pulling, etc but amazing. circle strafing was never easier.

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

I keep thinking I want to upgrade as well from the 518, but nothing new really beats it enough to justify the move.

My only gripe is the size. I would like something a little smaller.

Mapped the defib and main gun to the thumb button.

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

It was the first true optical gaming mouse by Logitech. It's a very nice mouse. Actually it's quite comparable to my currrent G7 minus some minor differences. You can't go wrong with it. Plus it's cheaper than the Razor, last I saw.

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

This is pretty much off topic, but what I would really like is different key binds for the different classes. That way I could bind the 2 mouse buttons to main weapon/defibs for my assault, main weapon/pistol for recon, main weapon/SMG for engineer, and maybe main weapon/grenades for support.

I was thinking the same thing not that long ago...

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

My MX518 is the best mouse I've ever used. Controlling the sensitivity is extremely helpful, it's really comfortable, I haven't experienced the optical mouse glitch yet, and the two "Back"/"Forward" buttons by the thumb are perfect for Comm buttons, especially if the game needs two (BF2).

Re: Thoughts on MX518?

I have the G5 at work and the 518 at home. I prefer the 518 because of the second thumb button and the better scroll wheel. The G5 does have the light that shows what sensativity you are using but that is not very important.
