Invalid CD key message when joining.
I haven't played 2142 in a while because I can't join a server. I load, log in and try to join a server. After a second or so an error popup shows up "Invalid CD key" [Ok].
I tried to follow the instructions on the EA support site (basically patching a registry key) with no success.
One weird thing here is that the Battlefield 2142_code.exe program does not start. But the instructions seem to indicate that that's okay.
I contacted EA support and they told me to reinstall in another admin account. That is ridiculous! I am supposed to log on to another account when I want to play?
Did anyone solve this problem? thanks!Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 2GB, 8800GTS 640MB, Core2Duo E8400

Re: Invalid CD key message when joining.
I think you can set programs to "run as" other users, so you might be able to do that.

Re: Invalid CD key message when joining.
I fixed this with the BF2142xxxxx.exe that you mention. I was being kicked from all servers, and now it's perfectly fine.
I would suggest that you re-read the directions very carefully, and discover what piece of them you were misinterpreting.
