Help please... game wont start at all?

For some reason my game wont start at all. I click on the Shortcut, then I get the sepia yellow picture with the walker and tanks. Then the screen turns black and the game closes out. No error message, no anything... I have tried to reinstall it. Any thoughts? or links? I have found anything with EA support.

What are your system specs? (CPU, RAM, GFX, Sound, HD, etc.)

Does your video card have at least 128 MB of VRAM? Is your video card at least a FX5700/9500 or greater?

Do you have Windows XP? If so, do you have Service Pack 2 installed? If not, then you need Service Pack 2 in order to play 2142.

Re: Help please... game wont start at all?

I'm having the same problem. When I run BF2142, I get a brief black screen after which the app closes and that's that. My video card is an Intel G965 Express Chipset Family (built in), though it's on a brand new Dual Core Dell XPS system... I would think that this card could make the grade...? Maybe not? I did try reinstalling the driver without luck. Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

thanks,
Allan

Re: Help please... game wont start at all?

Built-in video card chips are absolutely AWFUL and most often UNSUPPORTED by modern computer games. This is why most of the more advanced motherboards these days do not include a built-in video port, and assume the user will use his/her own advanced PCI-E (AGP is just about dead as far as new GPU cards go) vid card.

Spend the $200 or so to get a decent upper mid-level graphics card like an ATI Radeon x1800 or an Nvidia 7800 card and disable the crappy built-in video card on your mobo.

Built-in cards are for folks who have no intention of gaming and will only use their comps for such graphics non-intensive uses such as using M$ Office, music playing and email.

You probably need to buy an updated graphics card... I bought an ATI 512MB graphics card you ll have to shell out some cash for a good graphics card.
