My Medusas ate it. Again.

Well, my Medusa 5.1s have died. Again. After TEN DAYS. First set worked for a couple of weeks, then the rear speakers died. Now the front-right speaker just hums, no sound comes out. Anyone else have a lot of problems with these? Should I just say screw it and get a good stereo headset? I've got "Medusa 5.1 programer edition v2"s. Basically means you can't detach the mic and it's got a fat inline volume control instead of the amp box.

i just bought razor barricuda's supposed to be just as good as medusa's

Did you also get the Razer soundcard? I've seen some reviews that say when used in conjunction with the sound card they blow everything away but when used with a non-Razer card they aren't the best.

Eh, I'm really thinking 5.1 isn't worth it. I mean, I couldn't hear THAT much better with the 5.1 vs a set of good stereos. I'm going to give them a third shot at it, but gawd, ten days is just stupidly fast. I can see them dying after a year.

i have an audigy 2 zs gamer. should be fine. i'm not paying the amount of money they want for a sound card it's obscene.

I have the razor barricuda I think I need to do some tinkering but I am not to happy. Nothing really makes me think there worth the 150$. I wish you could try these headsets out.

Urit, I'm telling you it makes a HUGE difference. YOu'll be able to tell when you automatically can tell where that knifer is coming from when he pulls his blade on you, and otherwise you wouldn't have known from WHICH direction he was coming.

I've also spotted cloaked enemies that I would've otherwise missed even if I'd heard them in stereo, simply b/c I heard in 5.1 headset surround WHERE they were coming from and in what direction they were headed. They didn't expect me to turn around 180*, and hose them accurately with the voss, but I did b/c I HEARD them in a way that stereo headsets can't match.

I have the turtle beach Earforce HPA 5.1 surround headset and love it. If you're going to give up on the Medusas, I suggest checking those out. I even have a review thread of it up in the hardware/software forum. Go check it out if you want more info.
