BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
Got a new computer with Vista Ultimate a week ago. BF2142 installed, everything nice and dandy, although could only play in Admin mode.
Received the new Samsung 206BW widescreen a few days later, connected to the comp, started the game and .... nada...
Removed the game completely, including regedit and %temp% files, reinstalled it again including latest patches and now every time I get the message "Please insert Battlefield 2142 Install Disc and select OK to retry". No way I can get online or even soloplay.
A new install disc did not help.
Back to the old Sony 19" and still the same message.
Ran the game on a HP computer with XP and the widescreen Samsung and it worked fine, so it must be Vista? Yet I played it with Vista for 4 days.A complete mystery for me...
Appreciate if any of the esteemed members can help me.
Cheers

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
try modifying your shortcut to include the native resolution of your new monitor... add this at the end (for example) +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Check the refresh rate as well.

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
Moving from CRTs to LCD usually causes an issue with the refresh rates (assuming your two monitors had different refresh rates). Not sure why reinstalling it would cause problems. try looking through this:

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
Have modified the screensize for both monitors already to no avail.
Refresh rate was for both 60 Hz, I think that should work.
The previous monitor was LCD and that worked fine. I will wade through that link hopefully there's something of help.
Thanks all

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
I changed the properties into: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen +szx 1280 +szy 1024'(my present LCD screen setting)What's this mean exactly? Did you change the command-line as I suggested?
I have only one monitor active. Also - if you normally have two monitors active, try disabling the one you're not using.

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
you need "+fullscreen 1"... in case that's not just a typo

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
oops sorry Whiskey6, there's a "1", I forgot...
Updated the firmware of the DVD-RW, now the above install disc message is gone, but bf2142.exe won't start up, all it gives is an error message, oh well...

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
another suggestion is to run bf2142 in windows xp compatibility mode. right click the icon on the desktop>properties>compatability and select windows xp. thats how I got bf2 fixed and I would assume its gonna be the same for 2142.

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
usually its just one little thing that messes up the command line. I had the same problem but i missed somethin stupid, (i forget what)...anyways heres my line that i know 100% works -
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142Launcher.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200"
EXACTLY like that with the quotes and everything. Make sure your quotes arent apostrophes. Just copy and paste and replace my resolution with yours then it should rule the command line out.

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
I got BF2142 working with no problem, just load vista and go, so I cant speak to the cmd line problem, however, I've found now that I'm getting lag spikes at a period of about 20-25 secs and really choppy gameplay. I set all my vid settings to low and it didnt improve. I'm running a radeon x1300pro, so I didnt figure it would be a problem. Any ideas?

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
Hmm, I'm getting some choppy game play as well (either choppy in little bits or a whole minute of unplayable chopyness when I first load), but I thought it had to do with me overclocking my RAM. Altough I don't recall it being choppy before I overclocked my RAM...

Re: BF2142 - Vista - HELP!
So I got the game working again. Did a reinstall of Vista and now everything runs fine right from the start, even on the widescreen. Just that the game crashed after 2-3 rounds. We'll see....
