Ping Help

My ping has gone up from 50s to 150s to 200s on TG. Some servers are registering lower in the 70s and 80s. When I get in game, im pinging 150 to 200 and everyone else is below 100 so its not the TG server. I believe this is the cable company, Charter Cable is notorious for "being a work in progress" all the time. Anyone know where else I can check my ping?

I ve cleared histories, temp files, browsers. I have no updates or connections running when I am in game.

A handy tool to see where your high latency is occuring is tracert. You'll need to get the server's IP to use for the target. The problem is that there isn't a whole lot you can do if the high latency is occuring beyond your router. But this might give you some info for when you make a support call to your ISP if the spike is in their network.

If you have problems running tracert (from ms-dos console), then I'd suggest this program to you: Ping Plotter. It is both text and graph output and is very easy to use.

www.dslreports.com - go to tests, external tests, and pick the city closest to you

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ - just pick the city closest to you and or the closest city to the server your playing on

or pic any city you like because it sounds cool

do a virus scan and spyware scan too

i had my ping do that and found out my computer started sending out 500000000 emails per minute

Lol Acero! This may seem like a no-brainer, but have you check your Anti-Virus software? I had that problem in BF2 and had to open ports for the game. Backround programs may also effect your game play.
Does the problem occur with any other internet game or program? Is it limited to only BF2142?
