G5 Mouse: Lack of Buttons In-Game
I've been having fun with the mouse and everything works fine EXCEPT that I can't assign one of the thumb buttons and either tilt click to anything. All the drivers have been installed and the buttons work fine in windows (haven't tried it out in any other games). Any ideas?

Re: G5 Mouse: lack of buttons in game
Trying to assign the left and right tilt in the game didn't work for me. I went into the Logitech software that came with my G5 and mapped the left and right tilt actions to keystrokes. Left tilt is mapped to the "3" key and right tilt to the "7" key. I was able to map the thumb button (I only have one) to VoIP from within 2142. I also mapped to the "middle click" action to the same keystroke as I use for TeamSpeak, but for some strange reason TeamSpeak refuses to acknowledge this while in the game - out of the game it works just fine, go figure...
Now, if only I could remember I have the tilts mapped and actually use them while playing, that would be something! Hope this helps, -lorax

Sc1ence, you won't be disappointed, buy it. My accuracy has improved a ton. Just today I took out 3 guys with head shot bursts with the Voss with speed I couldn't manage with my old mouse. The crosshairs just go right where you want them to. |

Re: G5 Mouse: lack of buttons in game
I believe you just have to specify each button as "Generic mouse button". Sometimes the drivers map the thumb buttons as back and forward. My MX518's thumb buttons mapped fine.

Re: G5 Mouse: lack of buttons in game
So now I have an ever bigger problem. This has been going on for a few weeks, possibly since I got the mouse. After I play the 2142 for maybe 5 minutes (it's random, this is just and average estimate) me sensitivity takes a nose dive. My highest setting acts like my lowest setting, and everything below that is useless. After a longer period of time, everything will go back to normal, and then screw up again.
So, I've found these ways to get it back to normal. All, however, are just temporary and eventually it'll act up again. alt-tab out of game and then alt-tab back. press my second thumb button. (the closest one does not fix my issue) So, it's a software issue, but I don't know where. All my drivers are updated and as far as I know, this is the only game it does it on. Any ideas guys? |

Did you get rid of all your old mouse software? I installed my G5 software without bothering to remove the Logigamer software and older mouse config software. I had similar spastic sensitivity issues where it would just randomly change sensitivity on me mid-game. At first I thought I was accidentally hitting the mouse sensitivity button but then realized that was not the case. I manged to fix it by going back and removing *all* my mouse software, old, new, and otherwise then re-installing the new G5 software. |

Re: G5 Mouse: lack of buttons in game
I'd definitely consider getting a new mouse, but I'm a little low on funds.
The only mouse i have now is a bluetooth optical mouse which shuts down after 5 sec of not using it (so I have to keep my mouse moving or else i have to move it a little extra to get it at full power again). It does the job, but a new mouse would be great.

Re: G5 Mouse: lack of buttons in game
My mx518 has thumb buttons too and they are worth the price of the mouse alone for the convience of talking to my squadmates

Re: G5 Mouse: lack of buttons in game
I have the mx 440 and had the same problems with the thumb buttons on mine. I found a much simpler solution that allows you to map the controls: turn the logitech software off. From my experience, it doesnt detract from the mouse's functionality or framerate and allows you full mapping control thats not overridden by a secondary program.

Re: G5 Mouse: lack of buttons in game
NEVER go wireless with PC. Dying batteries and timeouts are such a bitch. It seems like it might be convient or cool, but it is not worth the headache. The only wireless one I'd consider would be the G7, but still, wouldn't do it.
There might be a way to fix the timeout, but it would probably either require a registry change or some type of driver hack/tweak. Do some googling, probably be able to come up with something.
