Yikes first night to play bf2142 in 3 months and I got this... going to try the steps above and cross my fingers.

I did get a warning from my firewall before the first kick.

This is weird. After the last PB update, all my issues are resolved. I had problems BEFORE the update.

I do get a rare CTD now and then, but that's it.

This PB stuff is just crap!

everytime i try and get on bf2142 it will say Punkbuster: losing key packets and some letters and numbers, and i get kicked by PB...

I've heard some people in TS talking about this one. It seems that some have reported success in dealing with this by going to Punkbuster's website and manually updating to the most recent version.

It's also a pretty good idea if you're getting any kind of odd PB issues.

make sure to keep ur pb updated

also make sure you have the two punkbuster services running

i think they are pbsrvA and pbsrvB or something like that

but if you get kicked with that message basically you just have to run the manual pb update tool which can be downloaded from the pb site

Atlxpat, what this is is punkbuster not making it through your firewall. First thing you need to do is manualy update your punkbuster through the www.evenbalance.com website. Second make sure whatever security firewall you are using is allowing pnkbstrA and pnkbstrB access. If you are using mcafee or windows firewall or both just allow and you should be ok. let us know if this solves your issue.

Hi guys

Ever since the new patch came out I keep getting this message from punk buster saying "loosing CD packets", after which would then kick me from the server. At first I wasn't really that bothered but recently it's began to happen quite alot. Do any of you guys know what it means?

Click here and download the EXE for whichever OS your running, add 2142 and it updates it all for you.

Every server I join, I'm in there for like a minute or two. Then it freezes, and then I'm kicked by Punk Buster, with an empty reason window.
Oh i do say this is the wrong forum sorry, someone move it to support if needed.

About 3 or 4 patches ago, punkbuster messages stopped being populated into the punkbuster window you see in the main menu. They have not fixed this yet.

This will probably fix your problem. Manually update the punkbuster files, download and run pbsetup.exe
