PunkBuster Problem: (Losing Key Packets)
Hey there
After the last punkbuster update it seems (03.31) i every so often get a "losing key packets 10e08" something error and get kicked. When i log on again everything is fine. This comes and goes. This happens on several servers, not just TG's. Northern strike seems unaffected actually.
I've manually updated PB so it's 100% ok.
Anybody else getting this? Resolved it maybe?
I've opened a trouble case with evenbalance on this issue as well, so i'll report back.Last edited by Superfast; 04-16-2007 at 09:03 AM.

I have had the same problem as well. the only thing that I have do to fix it is to log out and try again and it has worked every time.

You can always go to the punkbuster website and create a support ticket if you do not find an answer.

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
I've gotten that too . When I was dowloading something and it got over my limit. I think it's because my internet provider slowed the internet down until I paid for what I downloaded.

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
I have only had it once and re-logging solved the problem.

I get this too, but rarely. It started a few weeks ago.

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
I was getting this tonight, wouldnt let me stay on for more than 15 seconds. Logging out didnt fix anything. I updated punkbuster, rebooted and it solved the problem.

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
You were getting that immediately when logging in, i got that too. It's not the same issue, but was caused by the new pb client the gave out yesterday.
But the same client update fixed my issue. I got an answer on my trouble ticket from evenbalance.com stating:
We have issued a new client to address this issue. If you would, please use PBSetup to update your PB. In addition, make sure that your antivirus allows both the game and PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe to run. Disabling the services will now result in a kick from the server.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I played last night 2-3 hours and wasn't kicked once, usually i got kicked several times in that same length before.
So case closed finally!

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
I keep getting a PB message when I join the Conquest server:
PB Important Restrictions: Losing Key Pockets CBffff02
I'm then kicked off the server.
I went to the PB website and ran the PBSVC program - which installed and unistalled PB (I believe). No luck. I even disabled my fire wall and have all the permissions opened.
Any thoughts?
I also ran the pbsetup.exe on the PB website and hit "click for updates" which updated but I'm still getting the same message and I get kicked.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
If you're getting booted out of the server immediately after joining then i think it's your PB client acting up.
Try running pbsetup again, or worse manually install the files needed to update from the evenbalance site.
If all else fails, make a trouble ticket with them. They answered me pretty quick (2-3 days)

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
I get these problems now too. In 2142 and in POE.
Updating the client files did not seem to help. At first I can play for 15 min or so, then trying to get back in disconnects me after a minute or less.Gigabyte P35-DS3R, 2GB, 8800GTS 640MB, Core2Duo E8400

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
Just got this tonight myself...occured right after "X punkbuster program has encountered a problem and needs to close". Played 2142 for two hours tonight so hopefully its a rare thing. This will drive me nuts if it starts happening in POE2. I already have enough issues to deal with there.(CTD's and bsod's lately which I just updated my drivers in hopes it might to the trick)

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
I got this a second time, this time my firewall was just blocking the pnkbster.exe service. After allowing it I was still getting the problem, but a restart fixed it. The same with the punkbuster update, i had to restart to fix the problem the first time. Most people restart anyway, but some might not, just wanted to point it out.

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
Many people were having the same issues with the latest update from evenbalance. There is about 4 million posts about it on ea.com's bf2142 site as well and there was really no help on that site. I had the same issues and by going into my windows vista security and allowing pnkbstrA and B access through the firewall and then doing the same thing in McAfee, then restarting I havn't had an issue sence. Hope this helps.

Re: Punkbuster problem (losing key packets)
If you have a firewall, add these programs to the exception list. Also try updating PB with pbsetup and once you think its all good, reboot and you should be good then. Hope it doesn't take you too long, it's a real nuisance.
