The Intro Movie

Skip the intro movies
To skip the intro movies, go into: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\Movies", and move all of the files out of the folder. you will now load to the login screen when you start the game.

I followed the direction and moved all the files out of the folder. Does that affect the game in anyway? (a very noob question)

Yes, the game skips the intro movies when you start it.

There are no adverse effects from doing that, if that's what you're asking.

Well, there is one: you will get alt+tab crashes more. So if you want to record movies it's recommended that you put the intro movies back in place. Source
