CO Squad Comments

First off, like to say that I love the server and it truely is an oasis in a sea of bad pubs. Playing on this server really changes the entire game, been in thr most exciting squads ever. Sorry for all the awful commanding lol, hope to improve and drive you all a little less nutz.

Alright, kind of a dumb question... but I havent found the answer anywhere. While playing as a squad, you occasionaly hear compliments that are from your commander using the "commander voice" along the lines of "youre a top notch crew" and such. Is this an automated in game mechanic due to a number of points a squad generates? or is it a commander issued voice command that can be manually given using hotkeys?

Re: Commander question.

I think if you right click on the squad there is a command for it somewhere, but I haven't gone commander for a long time so I might be wrong.

Re: Commander question.

To the right of the selectors for whether or not your com channel is open for a particular squad is an object. Right click that and you'll get a selection of mostly useless command stock phrases.

Re: Co Squad Comments

If a squad is doing good work, just tell them in your own voice. Thats much better then using some canned message.

Actually, I think the canned message is a good idea. It's non-intrusive and the whole squad can hear it rather than just the SL.

Re: Co Squad Comments

I thought the whole team heard it, which makes it rather useless for complimenting a specific squad.

Nope, just the squad you select and right-click. If you are nearby the CO however, you will hear everything he says in canned comms, as usual.

No, I think he's talking about the messages that are automatic. Some of them if I recall right are.

- We're losing this battle, fight harder men.
- Good work men, we've got them on the run.
- We're being overrun
- We're the only ones left

etc.

I'm not sure on the specifics, but most of them are for flag changes, and some are for when your team is down to a number of tickets (the reinforcement/only ones left one.)

Re: Co Squad Comments

those are automatic to warn of a flag cap or when you start to run out of tickets, but what you asked about those have to be issued as stated above

Re: Co Squad Comments

Yeah, theres a whole list of things you can say to a squad as the commander. On the Squad window (commander screen), you have the squad number, name, voice comm icon and then a little rectangle icon that looks like a screen with a bunch of buttons on it. if you click this icon, it opens up a whole dropdown of things you can say/do to a particular squad. I generally use the "commend squad" option (which is the "excellent work squad" thing) once at the end of the game, other than that, I just use voice comms.

Re: CO Squad Comments

I try to use the commend squad option at the end of rounds as well, except for when there is a squad that doesn't follow orders and is freaking useless to the team despite me reprimanding them both with the canned messages and VOIP, issuing orders, and whatnot. Usually, I just give up on those squads after a while and concentrate on the squads that ARE worth a damn, usually TG squads, but often non-TG squads perform wonderfully and I try to do my best to let them know that. Also, I try to make the CO assets as available as possible, telling all squads what CO assets are available on request. Again, at the end, I try to commend them both with canned messages and more personalized compliments for squads that performed beyond the call of duty (Like hauling butt all over the map to put out 'hotspots' without complaining, which I thank with preferiental UAV, Supply Crate, and OS support). Sometimes, just for kicks, I'll use the 'insult squad' or 'follow orders' messages on TG squads with my buddies in them. Always amusing to 'be following the way of TG' and get a "Follow my orders, squad!" message from the CO. Lets you know he cares.

P.S.: Bomm is especially fun to do this with.
