Northern Strike Unmodified Content Error
I just purchased NS this morning and tried to join the TG NS server. the map loaded and the 'join game' button came up and I try to press it and nothing happens then a second or two later the map closes and I go back to the main screen with a pop up message saying "this server only allows players with unmodified content to join. please revert you version of battlefield back to the official version."
I have tried on several different servers and I get the same message every time.
Is there some time to wait before EA realizes you have NS? or is there something else that I am missing.

I had the same problem and was able to resolve it by reinstalling the latest patch for Battlefield 2142. It sounds a bit odd, since someone can purchase the booster pack with a fully updated version of the game, but does seem to fix the problem.

Reinstall the 1.25 full patch.
The booster overwrites some core files that have to match the server's file versions. If that doesn't work. It's a reinstall of BF2142, then NS, then 1.25 Patch.The soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

get the patch from a site other than EA link. many people (including myself) have had problems with the patch installing then when its done telling you you need to install the latest patch...um I just did!!... then I got the same error message you got. I d/l'd the full patch from Fileplanet and it works fine. also make sure pb is updated

LOL-bump
Did a search of google for "modified content"; and Northern Strike was the first helpful suggestion from the google bar. That's when you know you've made a quality product: when your errors appear in google.
So, do I just reinstall (as opposed to uninstall) patch 1.50 (or whatever it is), or is there some magical hopla I have to go through?

Okay, here's the magical hoopla I went through last night:
- I uninstalled Battlefield 2142 (lame)
- reinstalled Battlefield 2142, went to reinstall Northern strike before patching (as that was the whole point of this excersize) but then found out I needed 1.2 or higher to install (super lame)
- reinstalled 1.2, then Northern Strike, then 1.4, then the 1.4 to 1.5... (certainly in the "not cool" catagory)
On the bright side this whole process fixed that crash I had when viewing awards (the 1.4 to 1.5 patch), and I did get Northern Strike running on time. So not a complete loss.

Umm... Actually, If you look at the top of the TG 2142 tech support forum, there is a sticky dedicated to this with a full solution.

For most people this works:
Full uninstall of 2142
install 2142 --> 1.4 patch --> NS --> 1.4 patch --> 1.5 patch.

Yeah i learned the hard way about this when i was going to hop in the scrim saturday but got that error! I missed the whole scrim! Argh.
This worked for me.
1. Install 2142
2. Patch 1.25
3. Install NS
4. Patch 1.25
5. Patch 1.5

I found that a second patch to 1.40 is not necessary.
patch to 1.40 --- Install NS --- then patch the incremental 1.40 to 1.50 patch
This solves crashing in the BFHQ in the awards section, being able to select NS unlocks and the undodified error while trying to play in a NS server.

Please read my guide and all the helpful posts. There are other less time consuming things to try before you go through all those steps. They work for me, but not others. But still, try the easy things first!
