Teamspeak/VOIP broken.

Today at the scrim after the first round, I started having major issues with both Teamspeak and in-game squad VOIP.

Whenever I press the VOIP or TS key-on button, the only thing anyone heard was a very annoying static-like noise. After being told my mic wasn't working, I opened up the TS audio input window and started testing, and sure enough, there was the static.

I remember Reaperassault having this exact same problem, however, unlike him, my in-game VOIP was messed up too. I rebooted both programs, checked to make sure Mic boost was turned off, and that my mic input settings were okay, and still had the same problem. Therefore, I stayed VOIP'less through the second round of the scrim. Afterward, when I finally closed out of BF2142, I tested the mic again (through TS), and it worked.

Hypothesis: Since both me and Reaper run, basically, the same system (He is running a Thinkpad T60, and I'm running a T60p), I think it may be an issue with either the built-in microphone that we use, the soundcard itself, or an issue with the current software and codecs and they somehow do not like running TS and BF2142 at the same time.

PS. Hopefully reaper won't get too mad at me for saying that my system is totally better than his. Perhaps he'll just own me one round rather than a few dozen.

Re: Teamspeak/VOIP broken.

Ive resently had this problem, and determend that for some reason the drivers the mic runs on changed. In 2142 if i have EAX (i think its called) disabled, then the mic just gives static. When enableing it, my mic works. A few days ago, EAX changed to disabled, then my squad complained about static.

For TS, same sort of problem, the "device" changed to ones which i dont use, not to my default sound. This caused the same static problem.

Re: Teamspeak/VOIP broken.

I've had this where TS and ingame VOIP turn to static and found that reinstalling my Realtec sound drivers fixed it.

Okay, thanks, I'll try this. For the record, the card I have is SoundMAX HD Audio.

Re: Teamspeak/VOIP broken.

Under TS options, try changing it from direct sound to wave or click the button for 8-bit recording. Either one of these fixed my static mic in BF.
