Unhappy crash half way through loading screen

Does anybody know why this is happening, i know of it happening to a few people now, and i would like an explanation if anybody has one.

Basicly, after clicking on a server, during loading, it gets just under half way and totally stops. the little walker mouse pointer can still be moved and its still walking, but it just feezes and you cant get out of it by any normal means, the only way is to restart. this is only on multiplayer servers.

Does anybody know what this is and how to fix it?

Re: crash half way through loading screen

I experienced a problem similar on thursday after i reinstalled 2142.

Basically the same happened to me as you, get half way and screen would freeze. I Alt-tabbed out of screen while it froze and on deskop, there was an error message saying something about memory error %£%$&^&*_ blah blah.

My soultion was to restart cpu and reload game. It been fine ever since(touch wood)

Make sure your firewall allows 2142.exe

Little known facts about the mating habits of BigEyes, sometimes they flood the apartment to call in attractive bigeye females, then build hives from pies where their queen will lay eggs

Re: crash half way through loading screen

Go to start, control panel, right click, open up, this then takes you to your control panel, look for windows firewall, open that and click on exceptions and you should see BF2142 with a tick, meaning its allowed, if not hit add programme and find it in the list, or if not hit browse and find the EXE folder of 2142, then add.

Thast if it is your firewall, have you updated punkbuster? have you got the correct patch, should be 1.25.

Try this and let us know, could be something simple.

Re: crash half way through loading screen

If nothing works, don't worry. This problem is rather common, especially on Vista systems. Apparently, the 1.25 patch and the latest version of PB have introduced a slew of memory issues. We're all familiar with EA/DICE's inability to properly address crash bugs, so you may be out of luck for the time being.

I am experiencing similar issues, with a top of the line system. My only option at this point is to be patient, and you may be forced to do the same.

Best of luck.
