Re: To Forgive or Not to Forgive

I usually get revived after a tk so I just forgive and move on. In fact, I've only been punished once on the TG servers. We were at statue in Belgrade and I was trying to nade the second floor of one of the buildings. I threw short and my squad was entering the first floor and it killed a person without a TG tag. He got frustrated in VOIP and I apologized but he punished me anyway. I left the squad as an end result.

Re: To Forgive or Not to Forgive

Since the punishing thing means nothing in terms of points I don't mind a punish since sometime (rarely) it's the only way I know I've TK'ed someone. Sometimes you get the Team Damage! sign, but many times you don't. In BF2, there was a message that you TK'ed someone, just like the kill message. Here, nothing.

Give the kill scroll a glance, thats how I know how well I'm making my squad work to be in the positives!

Re: To Forgive or Not to Forgive

There is a TK message. It reads:

You have Teamkilled <insertnamehere>.

In very small text in the lower center of your screen. Right about where you get the "You have Killed <insertnamehere>" messages.

Re: To Forgive or Not to Forgive

I do not punish TGer's, I know that it was accidental and should be forgiven. If someone does something really dumb, yes I punish. If it was my fault for running in front of someone or I get shot because i was close to the enemy and someone was trying to save me....no biggie. I hjad someone the last time I played that I tk'ed 4 times, they did not show as friendly nor did they have a name. He WAS my friend, but after the fourth and me trying to explain.....well the rest is hsitory.

Same here. I used to never punish in BF2, but I find myself punishing more in 2142 because I think the stupidity bar has been raised a bit. We also have more random pubbies due to the server being ranked (as opposed to our BF2 server).

Then again, I could always opt to not punish and just kick the fool

I never get that. I don't mean I haven't noticed it, I definitely don't get it and I assumed it just wasn't part of 2142. The only thing I get is the Team Damage! message and I don't always get that. That happens on any team damage, though, like if someone just runs past your line of fire and deosn't necessarily mean a TK.

I'm certainly not going to track the kill log at the top of the screen all the time. I do look there if I think there is a chance I might have TK'ed someone, but it generally scrolls by too fast.

Re: To Forgive or Not to Forgive

yeah, i'm pretty sure I don't get a teamkill message either. i see a "Don't hurt your team-mates" message usually, but nothing that indicates i killed them.

Not to derail this topic, but why hasn't this been moved to the General forum yet? It has nothing to do with anything technical...

Re: To Forgive or Not to Forgive

A fine example of a newbie punishing. Last night on Belgrade I was prone behind a wall firing at the enemy at Statue as my squad was moving forward. What to my dismay, a friendly steps in front of me and take 6 shots to the leg, dies..gets revived..and then punishes me. I had to stop and rake a drink, wine a little on VOIP and then move on. Restricting myself from actually killing him on purpose!! lol

Re: To Forgive or Not to Forgive

I love it when bad teammates make the game harder, makes it interesting. You line up your shot on some unsuspecting oaf, then a teammate wanders by, spots him too, comes right over to you, stands directly in front of you, and then begins to fire at him, dies, you get the kill and revive.

Oh, and the other day on a pub, was on a railgun, and friendly came over and stood directly in front of it. Had to wonder what he was thinking.

He would probably be thinking of forcing a tk or he could be helping a fellow clan member on the other team that was in a vehicle
