Bom just a question and thats all it realy is....

do we know if we have our OWN server or are we on a server with others???

otherwise is the box ours and ours alone or are their other RENTers on the same box???

i believe when i was in my old clan we rented from wolf and the problem was the over extended their box's( to many other games on one box) which others were renting but were all running off of 1 box.

its just a question and was wondering if anyone knew for sure

I'm also pleased to note that BR is on, and hope we can handle upping the player limit on the server - more is better, imho. Hope we can fix the lag issues and still manage to get it running with 52 players and BR on. Note, I haven't been on since the change, so I can't comment on the amount of lag yet. I'll come back and give a report once I play for a few hours, though.

We will live with the lag for the moment. Once it is resolved, we will be happy campers once again.

Just to update you, the lag is almost 100% a GameSpy issue, which means it's happening on all servers. If the lag was BR or population related, it would be steadier and last longer. I will update as I learn more.

Any theories/insight into why the servers seemed a bit more laggy than usual last night at times? I remember it was particularly bad the first few mins of camp gibraltar and there I got confirmtation from multiple people.

Separately, what a great time it was--there had to be over 75% TGs for a while.

The rubber banding was pretty bad a few times. Could it be that a few people concurrently downloading the Battle Recorder files would cause this or help contribute to it? Just a guess...

Please include the following when reporting lag:

Number of Players.
Exact Date and Time.
Map.
Duration of Lag.

Unfortunately, just stating that the server was laggy at some stage in time doesn't help us narrow down the problem. Also, please note that all servers tend to get laggy when they have been up for extended periods or if there is a hiccup in the stats reporting to GameSpy. If the lag isn't regular, please just chalk it up to "crap happens." If this is a nightly occurrence, we want to know about it. If it's brief and infrequent, then it's probably not a big deal.

Let me dispel a couple of theories:

IT IS NOT CAUSED BY BATTLE RECORDER.
There were reports of the same lag before we enabled BR. The BR files are hosted on a different server from the 2142 server. Downloading them will not affect the 2142 server's performance or bandwidth.

IT IS NOT CAUSED BY PLAYER COUNT.
The player count has been at this level for ages without issue.

Lag related to BR or player count would be more continuous and happen pretty much consistently when the server is full. From all reports, this is not the case. The reports I have received say that the lag issues only last for a couple of minutes at the most and don't continue between maps. Wolf is looking into the matter and I will update with any progress. Until then, please keep reporting the nature of the lag in this thread.

I'll keep this in mind, should the "lag spikes" reoccur...

The lag I experienced last night was most prominent in the second round of Camp Gibraltar (roughly 2300 ET). I fail to recall the actual time the map loaded, but I'd say the lag spikes started about five minutes into the round and would last for a minute or two at the most. I only recall it happening twice during that round and in fairly close proximity to each other as well.

I will report in more detail if it happens again.

I think you mean 6/12/07 . It started on Verdun and was almost unplayable. It then followed us to the next map (can't remember which one it was) but shortly after, the server crashed (or was reset, I don't know which).
