Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

My question is about lag and the rare map shut off. I know some here have been in a round where lag precedes the sudden load of a new map, but why does the lag come before.

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

I vote we remove verdun until the lag is figured out. It is unplayable for me. I log off now when that map or sidi power plant start to load. It is mainly the vehicle maps that seem to be really laggy.

As for a report:
Verdun and Sidi for me.
The whole round.
Every round.

The time or amount of players on the server do not seem to matter.

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

My experience with the lag is that I get severe rubber banding every once in a while, probably about once an hour. The lag lasts for 30-60 seconds during which it is essentially unplayable. my ping does not change and from reports, others experience the same lag. The lag does not come at any specific time during the map, nor does it come during any specific map. Admins are looking into it, but detailed lag reports including the exact time and date of the lag are very helpful.

This has been my experience as well. I didn't have a pen and paper handy last night, but I do recall experiencing this at 10:30pm ET on Verdun. It also happened on Belgrade and Berlin, but I don't recall the times...

It got very bad right around 11:00PM (EDT). It was by far the worst I've ever seen it on TG servers. It went on for at least 30 minutes... by then I just disconnected.

I believe I posted a note in chat logs starting with the word "ADMIN".

I jumped into the TeamSpeak channel and the lag was confirmed by several people including Vladd.

I get that also but that doesn't bother me. The maps I listed are as detailed as I can get. Everytime I play those maps it rubber bands to the point where I can hardly change weapons. The other maps have the intermittant rubber banding but it comes and goes quickly, usually worse after the maps I listed.

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

if it is only you rubberbanding, then its most likely is not a server issue. I am going to try to track this down by getting exact times and dates of the severe rubberbanding that affects everyone. since they only kind of rubberbanding I have had is the kind that is intermittent, lasting only about a minute, those are the examples I am looking for. typing "ADMIN: bad LAG" during these times in global or teamchat would be helpful since those messages are timestamped.

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

I have found today to be clean (june 13 '07) except for the sudden server crash. Have anyone else seen the rubber banding today?

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

I agree verdun was halfway playable today. It is not only me on verdun, it never fails that most of the squad members also report bad lag through out verdun.

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

Belgrade, Round 1
Round ended 9:22 PM EST
16-0, EU wins

Belgrade, Round 2
Round ended 9:37 pm est
187-0, PAC wins

Shuhia Taiba, Round 1
Round ended approximately at 9:54 PM EST
EU wins

Shuhia Taiba, Round 2
Round ended 10:11 PM EST
73-0, EU wins

All Games were practically unplayable

As per science's request I have typed in global chat, "Reporting: Lag" when lag was extremely severe. In the past, the lag was in the form of spikes so it was tolerable. However today has been the worst I have ever seen, and it was virtually unplayable.

I tried playing a couple rounds tonight an it was just impossible. I looked at my ping and it was only bouncing from 50-60 but performing any action in game was a good two to three seconds behind. I was on the exact same times as ainselie posted above.

I concur. I know of many TG'ers that simply walked away because it was so bad. This is becoming an everyday occurence. As was stated, this used to be a random spike that didn't last long. Now it lasts for several maps encompassing hours.

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

we are aware it is a serious issue. lag reports with exact times are most helpful. Has the server ever lagged with very few people on it?

Re: BF2142 Server #1 Lag

Maybe someone from the Euro devisions could give us some insight on early morning lag when the server isn't filled up.

I snuck home on my lunch break and got a round in on the Fall of Berlin map and was 30/52 population. It was a little choppy but nothing compared to what it has been.
