Seeking FRAPS Advice
Hi all - Have thoroughly enjoyed the sudden proliferation of AAR videos; great way to recount match details, and to enjoy a little 2142 goodness while at work!
Just got the full FRAPS package myself, but it just kills my FPS and lags big time. My system is a Pentium D 2.8GHz, 4GB RAM, RAID0 HD, and a 512MB nVidia 7950, so sort of surprised at the performance hit I'm seeing.
Can any of you experienced FRAPSer's post info as to recommended settings for in-game resolution, other settings?
Many thanks...
Thinking that a special section of the TG website, similar to typical Blog style, would be good way to concentrate this content - and display the TG way.

1) What settings are you running in game?
2) What FPS are you getting without FRAPS?
3) What FPS are you getting with FRAPS?
My system is no where near yours and I run 60FPS w/o FRAPS and 30 with FRAPS.A captain of the most awesome IHS ever and remember to burn before you pillage.

Re: seeking FRAPS advice...
i don't know whether this is the problem, but if you've got hard drive space, you'll want to pick the highest FPS option in FRAPS. If you don't, it'll limit your performance to that frames per second, and you'll have a pretty crummy time of it.

Re: seeking FRAPS advice...
I run the game on all high, 4aa, with no shadows. I set fraps to 30fps and full-size, seems to work.
From what I've heard, 30 is enough and keep the size of the video clip down. Setting it to anything higher than that won't really make the gameplay any smoother, just give you a larger file size.

Re: Seeking FRAPS Advice
Ya, other thread, other forum. I set mine to 20FPS actually, even though it will go higher and I don't detect any real slowdown or detrement to playing.
