Game Crash / Freeze on Map Load - Page 2

Only thing that worked for me was a comeplete uninstall/reinstall. Whatta joke.

Sadly that seems to be the case for everyone. I've gotten so frustrated with EA and their crappy products that I rarely even say anything about them anymore.

I run EA link and everytime I have to reinstall the game (about once a week) that means having to redownload it and install it. With the NS booster pack and patches it's about a five hour process.

If you have a good registry cleaner you can avoid doing all the manual registry edits. Just uninstall the game or any application and run the program and it will clean your reg and computer of all files not associated with a working program. Yeah, those can work wonders or blunders. I rarely touch the registry anyways, but these can be a timesaver if you need do, just make sure you have a good one! Back when I first started learning more about PCs, I tried to get rid of a bunch of problems on one of our old Dells; I deleted the registry. I mean, hey, look at the names, they're not normal!! Oh my poor 12 year old mind back then...

I use crapcleaner now when I feel like dealing with it.

I had this happen whenever Maashtur came up in the rotation. I just figured my machine was flakey. But having done an upgrade that fixed most of my problems, this one recurred. I looked at the level file on my old BF2 machine and found it was slightly different in size. I deleted the file on the machine, copied in the one from the other box, and then re-applied the last patch, and everything's been fine ever since.

No problem. I was so frustrated when this happened to me, so did some hardcore searching and found that gem.

If you don't clear the download cache, then the installers remain on your computer.

Yes they do and in a perfect world all I should have to do is uninstall the game and reinstall without having to redownload the whole thing. I click on ready to install after uninstalling and the installer asks for install disc one. I've tried to do this a million ways from Sunday with the same results and have no choice but to clear the temp files, redownload and reinstall. With that being said I'm not above leaving a step out so if I'm doing something wrong or overlooking a step in the process please let me know. I just assumed this is how it was so I haven't bothered contacting EA about it.

I guess we're back to the same old glitch! Worked perfectly last night and is locking up on map load tonight... This is getting old!

Jesus Christ. EA Link is a load of crap, and now we're back to the old "patch your game and you're SCREWED!"

When I first bought the game, I had to do the old uninstall/reg-cleanup/reinstall/repatch process to apply the first patch. Not this time. See ya, BF2142.

are you all getting your patches from EA Link? I have it,but use Fileplanet to dl al patches. Havent had a problem that i recall, and friends who used EALink have had all sorts of problems, like the losing packets, needing to reinstall etc.
