BF2142 artifacts + pics!!

Recently my uncle has been getting artifacts and we don't know why!
he has 7900 SLI, Opteron something, 4 GB of ram.. anyways it's a good computer.

I was thinking, it might be too much ram? (just found out yesterday he had 4)
and people on Gamespot think it's the drivers.
We tried using 1 video card, deleting/reinstalling latest drivers but none of that worked!

Heat. Possibly a fan dying. Possibly the vid card is just going. Possibly anything.

your vid card is in serious trouble. those artifacts generally only happen when the card is overheating in a serious way, or has some sort of major hardware failure.

check to make sure the temp of the card is ok. if it is fine, then your next step is to reinstall drivers. the 3rd step is to check your bank account, cause you are buying a new card.

Has he overclocked his video card? Check to make sure his video card's fan is spinning. If it is, try adding a PCI slot fan/cooler and see if that helps.

Re: BF2142 artifacts + pics!!

I would get artifacts when my game had been running for 30 minutes or so, and I realized that my fan was going bad. I replaced that and everything was hunky-dory.

Re: BF2142 artifacts + pics!!

okay we fixed it i think, it looks okay now.

he changed his resolution to 800x600 from his 1600x1400 and then we moved up to 1024x768

he has a good viewsonic monitor, what's the problem?! there is also no 1280x1024 in bf2142 =\

800x600 + 1024x768 works without artifacts

its not overheating or anything, did the drivers,

thanks all, but any thoughts on why he can't use 1600x1400(i think that's the number)
