Exclamation ERROR MSG: Help!

Thanks for reading this post. I have been trying to resolve this issue all day.

Scenario:

1. Loaded up EALINK
2. Ran battlefield 2142 through EALINK
3. Encountered an error msg through EALINK:
"The game cannot start. Out of system resources. Please reboot your computer and try again."
4. Rebooted
5. Tried running game, same error.
6. Uninstalled game, reinstalled game, patches, updates.
7. Tried running the game, same error.
8. Went to tacticalgamer.com, posting thread.

Note: My system is not out of resources, I have 4GB ram and plenty of CPU.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: ERROR MSG: Help!

It definitely sounds like a problem with EA Link which I have heard is not uncommon. You may try re-installing EA Link.

Otherwise you can search further in the EA Support FAQ Section.

Lastly, you might actually try contacting EA. I know what you are going to say, but they have actually helped me...well...once...sorta....but it's worth a try.

If all else fails I would do a complete re-install which is more painless than you may think. Thats what I had to resort to very recently.

Re: ERROR MSG: Help!

I originally cut and pasted the battlefield 2142 folder out of Electronic Arts directory, uninstalled/reinstalled EALINK and copied it back and that made no difference. My OS partition has 14/20GB free and my data partition has 80/220gb free. It is definitely a problem with EALINK itself, just trying to figure out how it's drawing this error message because it's bogus.

Re: ERROR MSG: Help!

I actually found something promising...

Google Search

The only problem is that the totalbf2142 site (which I frequent and can personally verify their helpfullness) is having problems. I would keep checking this thread and it will most likely have your answer once their website comes back online.

Re: ERROR MSG: Help!

Further searching has turned up this little gem. Take a look at the last post. The poster details your situation exactly and how he fixed it. Seemed his issue was related to some firewall settings.

Good luck.

Re: ERROR MSG: Help!

Thank you all for your replies, I appreciate it muchos.

Rali3gh, I came up with your first google search that you posted earlier but the totalbf2142.com site was down and archive.org didn't have anything recent enough to be helpful. Your last post was helpful yet that didn't solve my problem though it got me thinking in the right direction. Since I have always launched my 'Play Battlefield 2142 Online Now!' shortcut, I assumed it was pointing at:

D:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142Pace.exe... well I was wrong.. So I ran BF2142Pace.exe from the installation directory and it worked. I use iptables for my firewall and have windows firewall disabled so this bull**** doesn't happen. I even disabled my firewall completely and EALink still gave me the same error. The point of this excercise was to be able to play online, I now can and thank you all for helping me solve this.

Cheers
