Game freezes after 5 minutes

I have changed nothing on my computer in the past week. The game has been running fine for almost a month now. But today for some reason it has started to freeze 5 minutes or so into every game. Whatever sound was last heard loops over and over, and I have to hit the reset button to get out of it.

I have updated all of my drivers in case something got corrupted. I scaled back all of my OCed equipment to its default settings (although it has been stable for months) to see if that would fix it, it did not.

I'm about to try and re-install the game to see if that solves it. If it does not, I'm out of ideas.

Reinstall should do it, helped my random lockup issue. If reinstall doesn't work, do this: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...tml#post730261

Thats a full reinstall procedure, getting rid of registry keys and such, worked for me. No clue what caused the issue to begin with, but from my googling and hearing others, its fairly common.

Yeah, good call on punkbuster. I've had more issues with that than anything else, but since reinstalling 2142, its been fairly ok, so I'm not gonna touch it. I'd do these things first before the hassle of reinstalling.

If I don't add PnKbstrB.exe to my process list manually each time I play 2142 I lose key packets when I join a server. sometimes this doesn't work and have to run pnkbsvc.exe to uninstall and install. Evenbalance does not know what the issue is as it's something with the software and my box but I quit bothering to try to solve it. I don't know how many late nights i've spent troubleshooting when I could have been in-game dropping people.

I was able to play a complete round off-line on single-player without any problems, so it must be the ads causing the trouble. I'm going to try everything you guys have suggested. *crosses his fingers*

I would try and reinstall the game first before you look anywhere else. This will give you a fresh install of PB as well.
