Removing the HUD
After giving up trying to make a movie with actual action in it since FRAPS makes my FPS go from its spiffy 20 down to 12 which not only makes the video look terrible, it also makes a pretty bad movie with a lot of 15 second waits staring into the soles of the person who just ran at me for the last 100 metres with a knife knowing full well that I wouldn't be able to hit him because of me being able to actaully count the individual frames. Oh don't even start about Orbitals. I'll put it this way; painting the frame would be faster than watching my PC struggle to render the frame. Anyway...
I decided to try and make a fancy arty movie and using it as an advert for Tactical Gamer. And heres the problem: I have tried lots of different ways of getting a "clean" screen so I can film the action in real time. here are the results so far: renderer.drawHUD 0 This solved the majority of the problems as it got rid of everything that would ruin the fly on the wall style of the movie. Success! No. Fail, on epic proportions. This is my first question: How do you get rid of the spawn screen? you can press enter again and it will dissappear but I couldn't move around and the thing would appear again after about 3 seconds making filming impossible. renderer.drawHUD 0 <Spawn in> This solved the problem of the spawn screen but created two major problems: the gun model and limited movement. Second question: Can you get rid of the gun model? I tried all different weapons and firing them in different ways (such as right-click-holding grenades) but nothing would remove the entire model from the screen. The limited movement problem is really only solvable by a noClip command and I don't think there is one of those. <Act Movie> <Use BattleRecorder> I'm pretty sure this would solve all of the problems except the fact you can't use BR on a local server. Spiffing. Any help or suggestions on how I could do this would be greatly appreciated because I'm all out of ideas. ![]() Incurable

Re: Removing the HUD
With having slow framerates with fraps, the best thing to do would be to use battlerecorder/battledirector.
I don't think that it is possible to get rid of the gun model. One thing you could do with virtualdub is to crop out the gun model. If you have limited movement it's because the server is not allowing spectator mode. You will need to find another one if you want to be able to move around the field, or use BR/BD. |

Re: Removing the HUD
Aye, just go into spectator mode. Download the dedicated server files found here:http://battlefield2.filefront.com/fi...er_Files;78379 and you can tweak stuff around, I'm not sure if there's an option in a local server to allow spectators, I forget.
