    FRAPS!

Even without paying for it, the FPS will always work.

Fraps would do so, it puts a counter in any corner of the screen you want.

You can also use TeamSpeak Overlay beta
    http://www.teamspeakoverlay.com/
It has an FPS counter and may be lighter on resources.

I've actually heard quite the opposite Dona. From the people I've talked to, it seems that the overlay isn't written to well and really make a hit on your FPS, whereas I notice absolutely no difference with FRAPs. Start recording, and thats a different story.

cheers lads, didnt know the program...i'm gonna give it a try...
i was wondering if it would have been possible just to add the renderer.drawfps 1 somewhere in a conf file...but if it works with fraps that's fine by me ;-)

Dunno, have wondered that myself for awhile but then I bought FRAPs for the hell of it and never really needed to worry since. I'd be interested to see if you could though, maybe in the target path there's a way to edit it in. If so, I'd love to make a soldier/shortcut to run with no HUD.

Another cool thing about FRAPS is that if you have a G15 keyboard, there is a FRAPS LCD plugin that shows a moving graph of your FPS so that you don't have to have it on your screen while you're playing.

    Re: FPS in Game

i play with the keyboard under my desk on a sliding tray, so no G15 for me.

But FRAPS realted question.... I start FRAPS, and when i get into the game there is a FPS counter on my screen. Now i start a round and all is good, but after finishing the match and going to the next, whether loading it or just clicking for the second round on a map, the FPS counter disappears. Annoying since when i alt tab to fix it, my game crashes. Any ideas?

And Waffle has 666 posts. Just saying
"Give a man a match and he'll be warm for a minute. Light the man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life"

Hmm, well, I believe there's a hotkey to display the counter. See if you've been hitting that accidentally. I've had issues with it changing corners upon starting a game randomly, but only once or twice has it just disappeared.

It's all right there on the FPS tab. What keys, what corner, what info, etc.

Heck, if you hit F12 (default) a bunch it will turn off, corner 1, turn off, corner 2, turn off, corener 3...

I use the G15 plugin if I wanna see FPS, so I have it disabled.

yea, you probably just hit the hotkey, if not, I've never experienced it just stop working.

    Re: FPS in Game

Thx for the tip with FRAPS...
Its working alright...but i still didn't give up on the idea to use the ingame FPS display.
I went to my documents where there is the battlefield 2142 profile is stored.
    My Documents\Battlefield 2142\Profiles\0001
I modified the General.con and added a line at the very bottom calling the FPS procedure Renderer.DrawFPS 1 .
    works straight without complaints :-)
