Mic problems

I'm pretty sure no one can here me when I talk on TS and VOiP. I've got a Sennheiser PC20, it's not USB. Basically all I've done is plugged it in and upped the output volume to max on TS. I've tried to do the mic test thing on 2142 but it isn't getting anything. Windows Sound Recorder works but is pretty quiet.

Any help would be great.

Re: Mic problems

I can't help you much with this, but I do know that others have had the problem. Try a search of this forum for mic problems and see what comes back.

Make sure you have the "boost mic gain" box checked in Battlefield. Also, whatever drives your sound (Windows, sound-card-specific software, whatever) should have an option for boosting mic gain. Make sure all of them are turned on.

Also, see the above post--there are a few posts in this forum about mic problems. One of them is bound to have more advice in it.

Good luck!

Re: Mic problems

Well, i found that my mic sounded better WITHOUT mic boost. Turn TS settings to high, make sure that the green icon is appearing in game.
I use the non-usb mic type aswell, no problems though. Just try tweaking, you'll sort it eventually

Re: Mic problems

Oh yeah, Mic problems are horrible. One thing that fixed the problem for me was checking if the Sound Driver in Teamspeak was on Wave instead of Direct Sound. To check if it's set on Wave go to Settings -> Options -> Sound Driver in Teamspeak. Credit to VegaBond if this works.

Because Windows Sound Recorder works, it is probably a software related problem so I'd say, just mess around with the settings a bit. Try upping all the Volume settings in Windows itself too etc.

Or, like me, you'll have to do a system restore to make it work at all. You might want to set a system restore point before doing so, just in case.

Re: Mic problems

Thanks for all the help turns out I neglected the obvious...

Step 1: Take Out
Step 2: Plug Back in

How could I not have thought of that

Ah, the old "jiggle the cord" fix. I've missed that one quite a few times, myself. Glad to hear you worked it out!
