hey there....ive just installd bf 2142 and when i try 2 play it;it just comes up with a little picture thingy that says bf 2142 ......then it goes away an the screen goes black but then just returns back 2 the desk top an i cant play ......can some1 plz help me cheers

There are a lot of possible reasons this could happen, we need more information about your computer. How much RAM, what video card, really the specs on your pc would be a good place to start. Are you updated on your drivers, especially your vid driver. I needed to update mine the first time. Give us some more info and we will get you on the battlefield soon.

Have you ever had it working before?

If not, could you do:
Start -> Run... -> "dxdiag" -> Press OK

The could you quote the entries after processor, memory, DirectX version and then under the display tab your graphics card.

There is a test executable in the 2142 directory that will verify that your system meets the minimum requirements. I forget the name off hand, but it should be fairly obvious.

For a while my Cool'n'Quiet (CPU throttling) drivers got messed up and my system was reporting at the minimum speed my CPU would go at, about 10% of max, so the BF2142 hardware minimum check would not pass and the symptoms are very like what you are describing.

Another thing you may want to consider is that one of your profiles may have become corrupt. If you remove the BF2142 folder in \My Documents\ the game should rebuild it if it is missing and that might clear it up. i've had to do this before also.

It's not that big of a deal, really, as long as the drivers don't get corrupt. Since the whole debacle with the driver thing I installed the dashboard and watched it, and under any serious load it just pegs out the CPU. Only during really weak loads (like web browsing) does it do anything.

You've seen my videos, it's not like it's hurting my performance anyways (as long as it freaking works right in the first place.)
