Install problem

Ok I’ve installed BF2142 before and it worked fine. Uninstalled it a bout 3 months ago and decided to install it again today. When I stick in the cd the auto menu pops up, click install, goes to the install wizard loading. After it’s done loading the wizard the screen will quickly flash blue. That’s as far as I can get installing it. Any help?

Did you change anything on your system? The blue screen sounds like a video problem, either your card or a setting maybe?

Install it in safe mode maybe?

Removing the original registry keys may help. Here's a list of them in a thread from awhile ago:

is the disk itself scratched? try checking the disk for read errors.

OK this post was late at night so here’s some more info. I checked to see if I had it installed on an external hard drive found it and it started right up. Went to the login screen said it had some updates and if I wanted to install them. Clicked no exited out. Being the idiot that I am I decided to uninstall it from my external hard drive and put it on to my laptop instead. I tried uninstalling it but all that happened was that the uninstall image icon file opens. So I delete all of my bf2142 files in my external drive. Seeing that I don’t play ArmA anyways I uninstall it to make more room on my pc. This is where I try to install bf2142 and get the blue flash. I did a system restore today to restore the files, planning to just play using the external drive. Checked both bf2142 and ArmA files were back. Tried playing the bf2142 file nothing happens.

Then I started ArmA and got these messages –
No entry ‘.profilePathDefault’.

Shaders not valid (mismatch of exe and data?)

If I try to uninstall ArmA all that pops up is a small gray window with a white X in a red circle inside of it.

One thing I just noticed is my AGEIA PhysX Driver
It says “No AGEIA PhysX Processor installed “

AGEIA PhysX Processor
<3spaces>
Installed AGEIA PhysX Engines – version 7.07.24 with engines 2.7.3 to 2.3.1
(doubt AGEIA has anything to do with it)

I haven’t changed any of my video settings.
Very little scratches on the disc.
Haven’t tried safe mode yet(lol, can’t even remember how to start it in safe mode).

I have played bf2124 before on my laptop and on my external drive(it worked perfectly). So I know the cd has all the data and my pc can support the game. Just don’t know why it’s doing this.

Could it be a virus?

Any thing else you need?

It sounds like you may have some entries left in your registry. I would suggest either reinstalling 2142 to it's original location, then unistall it the proper way, then reinstall it to wherever you want it -or- go through your registry by hand and remove any references to 2142 (and arma if you like), then reinstall 2142 where ever you'd like. If you are not comfortable with using the registry editor, then I seriously suggest trying the first method mentioned above.
