Re: Widescreen Support is Available
Ok so has anyone used the new version with success? It seems to me that the complaints were with the previous version.
I want to use my widescreen 20" monitor, the way it was meant to be used with the money I payed for it!!!

Re: Widescreen Support is Available
I think its better, you'll just have to try it out and see how it works for you.

Re: Widescreen Support is Available
When I use this my framerate drops significantly, normally I get at least 40 FPS and with this I get 15-20. However that is because I have a 7300GT 128MB 128-bit GDDR3 video card, and when I use this program I change the resolution from 1024x768 to 1680x1050.

Re: Widescreen Support is Available
Howdy everyone!!!
With the release of 1.5 patch saying it now supports wide screen format, is it necessary to be using this produce?
After installing 1.5, I went my video options and I didn't see anything new to select to widescreen, is there something else that needs to be done? Last night as we where waiting for the round to start, someone over VOIP said something like this, "you have to add a command in your BF2142 shortcut Target box to get the new Widescreen to work" , if this is correct has anyone seen a link with instruction on how to do this? any help would be great.
Cheers

Re: Widescreen Support is Available
I posted this somewhere else.
Explanation:
You need to add
+widescreen 1
To your 2142 shortcut
For example,
If I connected to the server using the 2142 shortcut that the game installs you would have a shortcut that looks something like:
"X:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1"
You should change it to read
"X:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1"
The X in this case is the drive letter where BF2142 is located.
The "+menu 1" and "+widescreen 1" are refered to as command line arguments.
detailed instructions:
Right click on the 2142 shortcut and select properties. In the "target" text entry field of the window that pops up you will see the current shortcut and arguments.
Edit this field such that the "+fullscreen 1" reads +widescreen 1 .
Then in game you will see your widescreen resolutions.

Re: Widescreen Support is Available
Man. This looks intense. Do you need to have a widescreen to be able to play widescreen? lol this is probably a really dumb question to ask.

Re: Widescreen Support is Available
Those of you using Xfire to connect should look under the pull down menu Tools->Options-> then select the games tab, then select Battlefield 2142. Then in the advanced options window you see a text box where you can type in extra command line parameters:
You want to enter +widescreen 1 in that window.

Re: Widescreen Support is Available
No, not really...
The widescreen +1 just loads a different set of default monitor sizes or rather different resolutions. For example my monitor is 1280x1024 or a 5:4 ration (almost square) normally I would run under a 1024x768 setting as that was the 'best fit' under the old options available.
However now when I put widescreen +1 into place, 1280x1024 is listed in the supported monitor sizes so I can run native resolution for better clarity. So for widescreen you do need to have a widescreen, however the widescreen +1 offers more then just widescreen options to the list.
