Haven't been able to get online for a few days due to this error, maps load up to about 50-70% then just stop.

Have tried the usual tricks outlined in another thread here but no joy.

Will scour the EA boards to see if there is anything there - hope I can get it sorted soon and join in again..

Go to your 2142 install folder, default: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142
Look for a file named "radial.cdb"

If you cant see it, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and select "Show Hidden Files and Folders" and then underneath that on the list, untick "Hide protected Operating System Files"

You should now be able to see "radial.cdb", once you do, select it, and rename it to "oradial.cdb"

Hide your operating system files again (recommended).

Fire up the game, and it should all work fine again

(If you're running the 1.40 beta, then DON'T do this, the only other option is to reinstall)

If the radial.cdb fix doesn't work, locate BF2142Pace.exe. Right click, go to compatibility, check the box and select "Windows 2000." Launch that .exe. Close the game, go back to BF2142.exe and disable compatibility on it. Found that somewhere on a forum about a week ago when the usual fixes weren't doing it.

Yup, tried both of those fixes last night with no joy.

Unfortunately I am on Vista, so trying to contact EA direct just gets me a "sorry we don't support this game on Vista" reply.

I'll keep checking and see what I can find.

Did you try talking to it like its a naughty little girl? Or threatening it with a hammer? I find those work surprisingly well...sometimes.
