Half-Way Map Load Crash.

I've heard this is Quite a common problem, but whenever I connect to a game, it takes a while to load, and then when it the bar hits half-way, it stops loading, the computer doesn't freeze, but I can still move my mouse, but it takes ages if I press Ctrl Alt Del or Alt Tab, for the exit to come, I've tried joining servers a few times now (for the foolish hope of it working), and so now I just manually restart my computer because I can't be bothered to wait. This has happened to me before, but I just left it, came back the next day and it was fine this is the first time that it hasn't got better itself. Also, the menu screen is running a lot slower, and the sound is glitchy. I would very much appreciate any help with this problem, (and if it's not too much trouble, please don't use weird words or code, because I'm, as G--Man likes to put it, computer challenged. I mean seriously, very, retarded when it come to technical stuff with computers, which is weird because my cousin is a hacker, and I don't know any of this code stuff, he should really teach me this crap).

Re: Half-Way Map Load Crash.

Radial.cb fix.

Go into your BF2142 folder, and then allow hidden and OS files to be seen. Find Radial.cdb and rename it oradial.cdb

If you need more specific directions, it shouldnt be hard to find on google. But its a very simple fix.

Re: Half-Way Map Load Crash.

just delete the radial.cdb file. you'll be deleting more in future, no need to let them pile up in there.

Re: Half-Way Map Load Crash.

Seems to have happened to all of us from time to time, just delete the radial.cdb file. It can be found in the programfiles/electronic arts/ bf2142 folder.

On a side note, I have noticed in several of your posts the use of the word retarted. You may not have issue with the use of this word but for someone who has a retarded person in their family it can be offensive, please refrain and chose a different word. Thank you.

Thanks for the response, but after I turn off the "Hide protected OS files" in View, in Folder options, under tools, I cant find this "radial.cdb" file. I have a number of folders and two CACHE files. The folders

Thanks for the response, but after I turn off the "Hide protected OS files" in View, in Folder options, under tools, I cant find this "radial.cdb" file. I have a number of folders and two CACHE files. The folders read: HttpCache, LogoCache, Mods, Profile, and screenshots. The CACHE files are called icontent.cache and imcontent.cache. The icontent.cache is 6.19MB, the other is 98 bytes. Please could you help with finding this file? (and sorry if the answer is really obvious, I'm just so bad with computers).

I am deeply sorry for anyone I may have offended, and sincerely apologize, I never realised what I said might be offensive, and I hope that anyone I might have offended accepts this apology.

Mine is up at the top of the folders section, right in between the 2nd and 3rd folder. Try looking again but look at the top of the folders.

Thank you for the appology, it was not needed just wanted to make you aware going forward.

Re: Half-Way Map Load Crash.

Make sure you have the show hidden files selected and uncheck the hide protected files. It should then pop up. Make sure you are also in the programfiles/bf2142 area.

This may sound dumb, but make sure you hit the apply button in order for the options to take effect.

http://www1.freewebs.com/henry1422/bfscreenshot.htm

This shows my unsuccessful attempt at finding this damn file, just go here, click on the image and the on full size.

This is my crappy freewebs site that I spent about 2 days on about a year ago. Since I don't have any photobucket or other image sharing accounts, I just thought I'd do this, .

Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong, because I can't figure it out, but you more clever and less computer challenged guys out there will probably have a better chance.

Re: Half-Way Map Load Crash.

your in the wrong folder. you are in mydocuments, you need to go to your C:drive/ program files/electronic arts/bf2142 folder.

From your desktop, double click on my computer, double click on the c drive, double click on program files, double click on electronic arts, double click on bf2142, you should see the file now.

Getting bak to the issue at hand, we have seen quite a few of these posts lately so maybe we should sticky this one. Just a thought.
