Well worth a few minutes reading on each article

Re: Techspot Graphs on GPU & CPU Performance

Hey explode why not update your OP with the graphics card comparisons by HardOCP and Toms Hardware Guide? Here are the links!

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ce,3063-8.html

This thread could be pinned as a Graphics card guide for TGers looking to upgrade. It would make things easy...

Something to keep in mind is that it is hard to verify what drivers were used to perform the benchmark. Drivers are always continually updated, so performance will usually improve for the newest generation of cards. I expect the the AMD cards with have their MSAA methodology improved to be more in line with what it should be.

GTX 470 here...Happy to report I'm happy with the performance. I hate turning on the FPS OSD so I have no idea what I"m hitting for min's and max's. All I know is it's working well with no stutter or lag so that's good.

Open console with the key above tab (usually the tilde key) and type (capitalization does not matter):

    Render.drawFPS 1

You'll have to do it every time you enter a new server after exiting a game, unless there is a way to execute always via a script.

You can always use this too, its very cool, but pretty large:

    Render.PerfOverlayVisible 1

    Green is CPU
    Yellow is GPU

If yellow is below green on the graph, then your CPU is holding back your GFX card.
Spikey graphs mean your performance is unstable.

I am going to create a post in the tech section with this so that it is easy to spot.

Although my graphics card is 3rd from the bottom on the list I don't have any complaints so far about about performance. I consistently get around 40fps at 1680x1050 as the chart indicates. For those of you looking to save some money, a cheap-ish GTX 460 offers adequate performance.

Techspot tests are performed in single player.
In multiplayer with over 60 players on Caspian Border, even the AMD X4 980 is running at nearly 100%.
