Teamspeak Voice-Activation (Implications and Solution)
Summary:
The majority of Voice-Activation users have not properly configured their Voice-Activation sensitivity. This activates the Volume Control Plugin and broadcasts your private conversations to everyone.
Implications: Broadcasting private conversations: We don't need to know that you forgot to take out the trash, left the toilet seat up, forgot to flush, or forgot to put on deodorant. Activates the Volume Control Plugin: Some users enable this plugin so that they can hear the in-game environment and teamspeak communications. Because an improperly calibrated Voice-Activation is constantly transmitting, the Plugin is constantly activated, nullifying its benefits. This means that anyone using the Plugin will be forced to play their game at low volume levels. The default is 25% of normal.
Solutions
(Best) Push-to-talk:
Allows for use of squad to squad communications via whisper lists.
(Difficult and Requires Maintenance) Voice-Activation:
Requires re-calibration based on environmental changes.
Requires that you speak directly into your mic.
Ensure that it only activates when you speak directly into your mic.
Sensitivity needs to be calibrated properly.
If the sensitivity is too high, broadcast private conversations and unnecessarily activate other's Volume Control Plugin.
If the sensitivity is too low, it will not transmit your first syllable or anything at all.
