TG has a mumble server and we have tested positional audio with BF3 and it works as advertised, players voices come from their in-game location, it's very cool.
Implementing it to work like our Teamsync/Teamspeak solution however poses a challenge.
It's not as easy to install and configure.
Not nearly as many people have mumble as they do TS.
You need separate buttons to talk to your squad if you're spread out.
Given the size of BF3 maps, and the pace of the game, I don't know if the amount of chatter would just become ridiculous.
Long term...I would love to have a complete mumble solution that would be simple to install, simple to use, and just works (any volunteers with lots of time and software development skills?)
We can definitely run this some night to test it out with a larger audience, probably a special PW night.
If bf3 works with mumble as you say, then please set up a mumble server for bf3 and have a password night to check it out. I am sure I cant be the only one that wants to try this. Are there any bf3 servers that use mumble? I would be up for a pub raid to check it out.

so you deleted my post in my own thread great job!
I believe your post was deleted because you were summarily cursing your head off. Making a suggestion is one thing. Blatant disrespect and disregard for the established rules of conduct is another entirely.

I'd like to try this out as well if anyone knows of any servers that are currently running it.
I am ok with the vote for mumble... I mean, we use it for PR and it would definitely fix the need we have for talking to each other and for getting the Squad Leaders to communicate to each other. It might be hard for some of us to get on board with this... None the less, we could finally get a better chain of command...
Plus this now means squads can finally ask to be airlifted by helo pilots that belong to other squads.
I'm *entirely* in favor of running a mumble server with positional audio, and we can even run it at the same time as teamspeak, for the basic squad voip for most people. It would very similar to the way Project Reality integrated positional, first a select few who took the time used it, and then it became widespread.
Also, TG has a mumble server, I never knew. What IP?
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
